Truck Freight Calculator – Estimate Transport Cost by Distance

Freight Calculator — Know Your Truck Transport Cost Before You Book

Most businesses find out what intercity freight actually costs only after the truck is loaded. By then, you are negotiating from a weak position. The TruckGuru freight calculator flips that — you get a working cost estimate before you commit to anything.

Enter your route, pick a truck size, and see what the freight is likely to cost.

How the Freight Calculator Works

Three inputs, one output.

  1. Enter pickup city and drop city — the intercity route you need covered

  2. Select your truck type — not sure which size fits your load? Check the Truck Size Guide before you proceed

  3. Add approximate cargo weight — this helps match the right vehicle to your consignment

Once you submit those details, you get an indicative freight range for that route and truck combination. It is based on distance, vehicle category, fuel cost benchmarks, and toll impact on that corridor.

After reviewing the estimate, you can move directly to book a truck online — no separate process, no starting over.

What Goes Into the Estimate

The calculator uses standard transport cost factors:

  • Distance between pickup and drop cities

  • Truck category and load capacity

  • Approximate cargo weight and volume

  • Fuel cost benchmarks at the time of calculation

  • Toll and route conditions on that corridor

This covers FTL (Full Truck Load) intercity shipments only. If you are looking at part-load freight, that falls outside what TruckGuru handles. For a broader view of what intercity goods movement looks like end to end, see Transportation Services.

Is the Estimate the Final Price?

No. The calculator gives you a realistic cost range, not a locked-in quote.

The final freight charge is confirmed at booking and depends on live truck availability on your route, any route-specific constraints that week, and seasonal demand. Q4 tends to run higher on most corridors.

That said, the estimate is close enough to use for budgeting, vendor comparisons, and shipment planning. Most businesses use it to decide whether FTL booking makes sense for a particular consignment before they commit.

Who Uses the Freight Calculator

It works best for businesses that move goods on regular intercity routes and want to plan logistics costs ahead of time. A few common situations:

  • A manufacturer checking what it costs to dispatch to a warehouse in another state before approving the shipment

  • A trader comparing freight across two routes to decide which supplier city to source from

  • An operations team building a monthly logistics budget for recurring intercity movement

Book your truck directly once your estimate is ready.

Truck Options Covered in the Calculator

The calculator supports all vehicle categories available on TruckGuru. For detailed load specs and body dimensions, refer to the Truck Size Guide:

Vehicle Payload Best For
Tata Ace 750 kg Samples, spare parts, small FMCG batches
Bada Dost / Chota Hathi 1.5 tonnes Packaged food, retail goods, light machinery
14 ft Truck (Eicher/Tata) 3.5 tonnes Appliances, textiles, mid-volume industrial goods
20 ft Truck 7 tonnes Bulk FMCG, pharma, construction materials
32 ft Container 15 tonnes Full consignment loads, large manufacturing freight

Need help picking the right vehicle? The Truck Type Guide walks through each option with cargo-matching recommendations.

After the Estimate — What Next

Once your estimate works for the budget, head to truck booking online to confirm. A verified truck gets assigned, GPS tracking goes live once it is on the road, and the digital invoice comes through after drop-off. The Transportation Services page covers the full end-to-end process in detail.

FAQs — Freight Calculator

How does the calculator work?
It estimates intercity FTL freight cost based on route distance, truck category, and cargo weight. Enter those three details and you get a cost range for your shipment.

Is the estimate the final price?
No. It is an indicative range. Final pricing is confirmed at the time of booking a truck and reflects live availability and route conditions on that day.

Does it support part-load (PTL) freight?
No. TruckGuru handles FTL intercity transport only. Part-load freight is not a service offered here.

What details do I need to use it?
Pickup city, drop city, truck type, and approximate cargo weight. That is all.

Can I book directly after using the calculator?
Yes. Once you have reviewed the estimate, you can move straight to booking a truck without re-entering your details.

Which routes does the calculator cover?
All major intercity corridors across India — Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and connecting routes. Check online truck booking for live route availability.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are TruckGuru — a truck booking company that works directly with businesses across India. No brokers, no middlemen. If you need to move goods from one city to another — whether it's 100 kg or a full truckload — we find you the right vehicle at a fair price. We've worked with businesses of all sizes, from small traders to large manufacturers, and we understand that when your goods need to move, delays and confusion are the last things you need.

At the core, we help businesses book trucks — but our work goes beyond that. We also help you manage your fleet, track shipments, and keep your warehousing in order. In short, anything that touches moving goods, we are involved in it:

  • Online Truck Booking
  • Transportation Management
  • Fleet Management
  • Route Planning
  • Real-Time Shipment Tracking

We are not just a booking platform — we are a logistics partner you can call when something goes wrong too.

Simply put — you save time, money, and unnecessary stress. Here is what you get when you work with us:

  • Pricing based on the actual market rate — no inflated broker quotes
  • Trucks confirmed quickly, usually within the same day
  • A large network of verified trucks available across India
  • Live GPS so you always know where your shipment is
  • LR, invoice, and POD — all digital, no chasing for paperwork
  • Someone to call 24/7 if anything needs attention

It takes just a few minutes. Here is how it works:

  1. Download the TruckGuru app from Play Store or App Store — or just open our website.
  2. Register or log in to your account.
  3. Enter where the goods need to be picked up and delivered, and what you are sending.
  4. Pick the truck size that fits your load.
  5. Check the fare shown on screen — no hidden extras.
  6. Confirm the booking and you are done.
  7. From there, you can track the truck live until your goods are delivered.

If you get stuck at any step, just call us — we will help you get the booking done.

Just enter the pickup city, delivery city, and roughly how much your goods weigh — you will see a price range on the spot. No need to call anyone or wait for a quote. Once you confirm the booking, we share the final rate before any truck is dispatched your way.

We have vehicles for all kinds of loads — small or large. Whether you need a mini truck for a local delivery or a full container for an inter-state shipment, we have it covered:

  • Tata Ace / Bolero Pickup — for small loads and city deliveries
  • Eicher / Tata 19 ft LCV — for medium-sized consignments
  • 14 ft / 17 ft Closed Body Trucks — for goods that need weather protection
  • 20 ft / 24 ft Container Trucks — for bulk and long-distance movement

Not sure which one fits your load? Our team will help you pick the right option.

FTL simply means the entire truck is yours — no other goods will share the space. The truck picks up from your location and goes straight to the destination without stopping anywhere in between. This is usually the best choice when you have a large quantity to move or when delivery time really matters. Fewer stops also means fewer chances of damage or delay.

Once your booking is confirmed, your LR (Lorry Receipt) and invoice are sent directly to your registered WhatsApp number or email. You can also download them anytime from your TruckGuru account. No need to wait, call, or follow up — the documents are ready as soon as the booking goes through.

Yes — every truck on our platform has GPS. Once your shipment is on the move, you can see exactly where it is from the app. No more calling the driver every few hours to ask "bhai kahan tak pahunche?" — you can check it yourself anytime. You can also share the tracking link with your buyer or warehouse team so they know when to expect the delivery.

Yes, you can. Just select your dispatch date when placing the booking and we will arrange the truck for that day. Advance booking also helps us get you better availability — especially during busy seasons when trucks fill up fast.

Yes. If you need to pick up goods from more than one location, or deliver to multiple destinations in one trip, we handle that too. Just mention the stops when placing your booking and our team will plan the route accordingly.

Yes, you can cancel. If the truck has not yet left for your pickup point, cancellation is generally free. If the truck is already on its way, a cancellation charge may apply — because the driver has already committed his time and fuel. We keep this transparent, so the exact terms are shared at the time of booking itself.

Our truck fare covers transportation only — loading, unloading, and packing are not part of the standard service. If you need help arranging labour or packing at your location, reach out to our team and we will try to connect you with someone in your area. We do not want you to be stuck without options.

We carry most general goods — machinery, auto parts, FMCG products, electronics, furniture, building materials, agricultural produce and more. The only things we do not carry are hazardous chemicals, flammable liquids, and similar restricted materials. If you are unsure whether your goods qualify, just call us before booking and we will confirm on the spot.

Payment is split into two parts. First, a freight advance is paid when the truck arrives at your loading point. The remaining balance is settled once the goods are delivered. The exact breakdown is shared with you at the time of booking — no surprises later.

We accept all standard payment modes — whatever is convenient for you:

  • NEFT / RTGS / IMPS
  • UPI — GPay, PhonePe, Paytm
  • Net Banking

Once delivery is done, the driver uploads the POD from his end. You will receive it on your registered WhatsApp or email, and it will also be available to download from your TruckGuru account. No waiting around — it comes through as soon as the delivery is marked complete.

Once the truck is assigned, the driver's number is shared with you through your TruckGuru account. You can call him directly. If for some reason you cannot reach the driver or have a concern, our support team is available around the clock to step in and help.

Go to the Support or Help section in your TruckGuru account and raise a ticket from there. You can also call or email our customer care team directly — whichever is faster for you. We take complaints seriously and aim to respond and resolve quickly, not just acknowledge and forget.

The moment you enter your route and cargo details, an estimated price appears on screen — no waiting. Once you confirm the booking, the final rate from the truck owner is usually shared within 30 to 60 minutes. You are not kept waiting for hours like with traditional brokers.

Yes. We do not onboard just anyone. Every truck owner and driver on our platform goes through a verification process — vehicle registration, valid driving licence, and basic background checks. We do this because your goods are valuable and you deserve to know who is handling them.

Yes. You can share the live tracking link with anyone — your buyer, your warehouse team, or a business partner. They do not need a TruckGuru account to view it. This way, everyone who needs to know where the shipment is can check on their own without having to call you.

It depends on the distance and the route. A Mumbai to Pune delivery is very different from a Delhi to Chennai one. We give you an estimated delivery window at the time of booking, and you can track progress live through the app. If there are any delays due to weather, road conditions, or other factors, we keep you informed.

Yes — we cover routes across PAN India. Whether you are moving goods between major cities, we have truck owners and operators in our network who can service most locations. If you are not sure whether we cover a specific route, just enter it on the app or call us — we will tell you honestly.

Of course. Just enter the pickup city, drop city, and cargo weight — and you will see the price range right away. No login needed, no commitment. We want you to be comfortable with the rate before you decide to book.
