Steel moves out of Jharkhand every day, and a good part of it heads for Delhi's fabrication and trading markets. From Ranchi, those loads cover about 1,250 km: north through Hazaribagh to the Grand Trunk Road, then west through Varanasi, Prayagraj, Kanpur and Agra. A full truck usually takes 2 - 3 days.
We book full trucks only. Your consignment is the only one on the truck, from the Ranchi gate to the Delhi drop.
| Truck | Load capacity | Trip fare |
| Tata Ace | Up to 1,100 kg | Rs.32,500 - Rs.36,200 |
| 14ft Eicher | 3.5 ton | Rs.38,800 - Rs.43,800 |
| 20ft truck | 6.5 ton | Rs.51,200 - Rs.56,200 |
| 32ft container | 7-8 ton | Rs.68,800 - Rs.72,500 |
| 32ft container | 16 ton | Rs.85,500 - Rs.95,200 |
| 32ft container | 18 ton | Rs.92,200 - Rs.98,800 |
Toll is included in every fare. Use the freight calculator for the confirmed fare to your exact Delhi drop.
Steel products are the backbone of this route: TMT bars, structural sections, pipes and sheets from mills and stockists around Ranchi, Ramgarh and the wider Jharkhand steel belt. They go to Delhi's steel traders, fabricators and infrastructure contractors.
Heavy engineering parts from the Tupudana and Namkum industrial areas are the second group. Forest produce and lac, which Jharkhand is known for, also travel to Delhi processors in smaller loads.
Delhi is the natural end point. The NCR's construction activity and its role as the distribution hub for north India mean steel and engineering goods sell faster there than almost anywhere else.
Steel loads fail when shippers book by length instead of weight. A bundle of TMT bars looks small but is extremely heavy. A 20ft truck takes 6.5 ton; a 32ft container of 18 ton is the usual choice for full mill dispatches. Loading steel beyond the truck's load capacity is dangerous and gets trucks stopped at weighbridges on the way.
Bars should be tied at several points and placed on wooden runners so they do not shift under braking. Ask for an open body if loading is by crane. The truck type guide explains open and closed bodies.
The first day takes the truck from Ranchi to the GT Road near Aurangabad in Bihar and on toward Varanasi. Day two covers Prayagraj and Kanpur. On day three, the truck clears Agra and reaches Delhi. The Varanasi and Prayagraj stretches get slow during the Magh Mela and other large gatherings, and we route around them when we can.
Winter fog on the Kanpur-Agra-Delhi stretch is the biggest seasonal risk. From mid-December to mid-January, plan for half a day more.
Ranchi has fewer trucks waiting for loads than the big metros, and most of the heavy vehicles in the area are tied up with mines and steel plants. A 14ft or 20ft truck is usually available within a day. For 32ft containers of 16 or 18 ton, give us 2 days' notice, especially at month-end when mills push dispatches.
The other thing to know is return traffic. Trucks that bring FMCG and consumer goods into Jharkhand from Delhi are keen to go back loaded, which helps availability on this route. Ask us if your dispatch dates are flexible by a day or two.
Uttar Pradesh runs weighbridge checks on the GT Road, and overloaded steel trucks get fined and held. We do not load beyond the truck's rated capacity, and we ask you to share the weight slip from your own weighbridge before the truck leaves.
Common drops include the Mundka and Tikri steel markets, Narela, Bawana, Okhla, Mayapuri and Wazirpur industrial areas, plus Ghaziabad, Sahibabad and Faridabad in the wider NCR. If your site is inside city limits, entry timing rules for heavy trucks apply, and we plan arrival around them.
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
For more routes from the city, see hire truck in Ranchi. For loads coming back, see hire truck in Delhi. Heavy steel loads usually go in our container trucks.
Usually 2 - 3 days for 1,250 km. Winter fog between Kanpur and Delhi can add half a day.

"We ship auto components from our Pune plant to distributors in eight states. Earlier every dispatch meant three or four calls to brokers just to get a rate. Now we check the fare online, confirm the truck, and track it on GPS till delivery. Our team saves close to two hours on every booking."
"Our textile unit in Surat moves fifteen to twenty truckloads a month to retailers across South India. TruckGuru gave us one dashboard to book, one number to call, and the GST invoice reaches us the same day. Rates are competitive with no surprise charges at delivery, and that consistency matters when you ship every week."
"We run a packaging materials unit in Ahmedabad and dispatch to factories across Maharashtra and Rajasthan. What sold us on TruckGuru was the rate transparency. The fare we confirmed at booking was the fare on the invoice, toll included, with nothing added at the weighbridge. Fourteen months in and we have not had a single billing dispute."
"I handle procurement for a pharma distributor in Hyderabad and our cargo needs careful handling. TruckGuru gives us a coordinator who checks that every truck is clean and covered before loading. The digital LR and POD reach my inbox before the driver leaves the drop point, which saves us a lot during audits."
Enter Ranchi as pickup and Delhi as drop on truckguru.co.in or the TruckGuru app, pick the truck size and you see the rate before you confirm. Once the booking is confirmed, the team assigns the truck and shares driver and vehicle details.
There is no fixed price for Ranchi to Delhi. Rates are not fixed: the fare moves with truck size, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are free on this lane that week. Check the live rate on the freight calculator before booking. Toll is included in the quoted fare.
Yes. Every trip runs with GPS tracking, and you get the driver's number once the truck is assigned, so you can follow the load until it reaches Delhi.
No. Toll on the Ranchi to Delhi route is included in the fare you confirm. No separate toll bill is raised after delivery.
Not always. Freight does not price the same in both directions, because it depends on whether trucks can find a load back. Check Delhi to Ranchi separately on the freight calculator.
Start with the weight and dimensions of your goods, not the truck size. A 2-ton textile shipment from Surat to Mumbai fits comfortably in an Eicher 14FT (3.5T capacity). Picking the wrong truck size is the most common reason shippers overpay on freight.
Get your rate confirmed before the truck is dispatched. On TruckGuru, the price you see at booking is the price you pay. The split is simple: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading, Balance due before unloading. If a platform or broker revises the rate at the loading dock, that is a red flag.
Check whether the transporter provides live GPS tracking and digital documentation including LR, invoice, and POD. Chasing a driver by phone for location updates wastes hours every trip. On busy corridors like Ahmedabad-Mumbai or Delhi-Jaipur, a single delayed update can throw off your warehouse unloading schedule.
Book 2-3 days ahead when possible. Same-day availability is common on most routes, but during October-December peak season, trucks on high-demand corridors fill up fast. Advance booking also gives you better vehicle options for goods that need closed-body or containerised transport.
