Book Tata AceGandhidham exists because of Kandla port. The town was built next to it, and most of its trucks still move cargo that came in or is going out through Deendayal Port at Kandla. Timber logs, edible oil, fertiliser, salt and project cargo are the everyday loads here. Mundra port is about 60 km west, and many shippers use Gandhidham as the base for both.

What moves out of Gandhidham
Timber. Kandla is the country's largest timber import point. Sawmills and depots along the Kandla highway cut logs and send sawn timber and plywood to furniture and construction markets in Ahmedabad, Rajasthan and Delhi.
Salt. Kutch produces most of India's salt. Refineries around Gandhidham and Bhachau ship bagged salt to Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and north India.

What to look for in a Gandhidham transporter

Port-side conditions
Kandla port roads are congested for most of the day. A truck booked to pick up from a port-side godown can wait 3 to 6 hours for its turn to load, especially in the week a large vessel is discharging. Give us the godown name and an exact loading time.
The Surajbari bridge is the only road link between Kutch and the rest of Gujarat. When traffic backs up there, every truck out of Gandhidham feels it. Night departures usually clear it faster.
Summer heat in Kutch is extreme from April to June. Drivers prefer early morning or night loading, and so do the labour crews.
Kandla or Mundra: which base to use
Many importers clear cargo at Mundra and still run their trucking from Gandhidham, because the transport market, workshops and driver pool are larger here. Mundra handles most of the container traffic in Kutch. Kandla handles more bulk and break-bulk cargo such as timber, salt, fertiliser and edible oil.
If your cargo lands at Mundra, the truck can be booked from Mundra directly. That saves the 60 km positioning run, and you do not pay for it. If you have loads at both ports in the same week, tell us, and we plan the pickups so trucks do not cross Kutch empty.
Loads coming into Gandhidham
Trucks also run the other way. Steel, cement and construction material move into Kutch for port and industrial projects. Packaging material comes in for the salt and edible oil units. Export cargo from Ahmedabad, Rajkot and Morbi comes to Kandla and Mundra for shipping, with Morbi ceramic tiles among the heaviest regular loads.

Papers to keep with the driver
Port cargo draws more checks than most. For a load out of Kandla, keep the invoice, e-way bill, bill of entry or out-of-charge copy for imported goods, and the weighbridge slip. For KASEZ units, add the SEZ gate pass and the relevant SEZ form. Timber loads also need the transit permit where the state requires it. Missing papers are the most common reason a Gandhidham truck is held at a check post.
