Book Tata AceChangodar sits about 20 km south-west of Ahmedabad on the Sarkhej-Bagodara highway, and over the last two decades it has filled up with factories that could not find space in the city. Pharma formulation units, plastics and packaging plants, engineering workshops and large FMCG warehouses now line both sides of the road, with the Sanand auto cluster just to the north.

What Changodar ships
Pharma is the biggest single group. Formulation plants in and around Changodar and Moraiya send finished packs to C&F agents across India, with Mumbai, Delhi and Kolkata taking the most volume.
Plastics and packaging come next. Moulded components, films, bottles and caps go to FMCG and pharma plants in Gujarat and Maharashtra. These loads are light and bulky, so trucks fill by space.

Truck rates
Truck freight rates are not fixed. What a load costs depends on the route, vehicle type, load capacity needed, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are running that lane that week. The Changodar to Mumbai lane runs every day and trucks are usually available, while Delhi-bound loads depend more on the week and the season.

Loading and traffic around Changodar
The Sarkhej-Bagodara highway is the only main road through the estate, and it jams at shift change around 8 am and 7 pm. Trucks reporting for loading at those times can lose an hour just reaching the gate. Late morning or night slots work better.
Low-lying parts of the estate get waterlogged after heavy rain in July and August. Some unit approach roads become difficult for a loaded 32FT container. Check with your warehouse before booking the largest vehicle in the monsoon.
Most pharma plants here ask for a vehicle fitness certificate, driver ID and a clean closed body at the gate. Share those rules when you book so the right truck reports.
Diwali shuts most units for 5 to 7 days. The week before is the busiest of the year for outbound trucks.
Loads coming into Changodar
The estate also receives a steady flow of raw material. Pharma plants take APIs and excipients from Hyderabad, Vapi and Ankleshwar. Plastics units buy polymer granules, much of it landed at Mundra and Hazira. Engineering units take steel and castings from Rajkot and Mumbai suppliers.
For inbound trucks, the same highway timing applies. A truck arriving at 7 pm sits in the shift-change traffic on the Sarkhej side before it reaches the gate. If your plant stops receiving at 6 pm, schedule arrival for the next morning rather than risk an overnight wait outside.

One practical point for pharma shippers here: many plants release goods only after the QA team signs off the batch, which can push loading from morning to evening. Tell us if that is likely. We would rather schedule the truck for late afternoon than have it wait five hours at your gate.
