Chennai to Mangalore Truck Transport - FTL Freight Rates and Booking

Chennai to Mangalore covers approximately 720 km by road, most freight moving via Bangalore on NH 44 and NH 75. Transit time is 1 to 2 days on this corridor -- one of the shorter south India intercity routes. At that distance, a B2B shipper in Chennai can realistically load Monday morning and have goods delivered in Mangalore by Tuesday. Use the freight calculator to get an instant rate before booking.

Mangalore is a working port city. Its cashew processing industry, ceramic tile distribution network, and FMCG wholesale base create steady inbound freight demand from Chennai. The Shiradi Ghat section on NH 75 between Hassan and Mangalore is the one consistent variable on this route -- monsoon season (June to September) can restrict heavy vehicle movement through the ghat, adding several hours or requiring a reroute. If you are booking during monsoon, confirm ghat status before fixing a delivery date.

Route and Transit Details

  • Road distance: approx. 720 km
  • Primary route: NH 44 (Chennai to Bangalore), then NH 75 (Bangalore to Mangalore via Hassan)
  • Estimated transit: 1 to 2 days (FTL, loaded)
  • Alternate route: NH 44 to Krishnagiri, NH 181 to Salem, NH 544 to Coimbatore, NH 966 toward Calicut then inland to Mangalore -- approx. 780 km, used when Bangalore bypass is congested
  • Key restriction: Shiradi Ghat on NH 75 -- heavy vehicle movement can be restricted during monsoon (June to September). Confirm ghat status before booking 32ft containers May to September
  • State crossings: Tamil Nadu and Karnataka -- toll billed on actuals

FTL Truck Freight Rates from Chennai to Mangalore (720 km)

At 720 km, the cost difference between a Tata Ace and a 14ft Eicher is around Rs.4,000 to Rs.5,000. If your cargo sits between 1.5 and 3.5 tonnes, the 14ft Eicher is the more cost-efficient choice per tonne at this distance. For cashew kernels, coconut oil, or ceramic goods from Mangalore distributors moving on a return booking, a 32ft container gives better economics for bulk loads. Check the truck size guide to match cargo volume to vehicle capacity.

What Moves Between Chennai and Mangalore

Chennai sends pharmaceutical goods from Manali and Ambattur industrial estates, FMCG from Koyambedu and Madhavaram, electronics and IT hardware from hire truck Chennai zones including Ambattur and Sriperumbudur, and auto components from Irungattukottai. Mangalore receives these into its wholesale and distribution network serving the Karnataka coast and the Malabar region.

From Mangalore, return freight includes cashew kernels and processed cashew from its processing plants, coconut oil in bulk drums, ceramic and Mangalore roof tiles for construction use in Tamil Nadu, and seafood processing equipment. Return volume on this corridor is consistent -- truck availability in both directions is generally good.

TruckGuru carries FTL intercity goods transport only. We do not carry part loads, household goods, live animals, fresh produce, or seafood on this route.

Why Businesses Use TruckGuru on This Route

At 720 km, Chennai to Mangalore is short enough that shippers sometimes assume a shared truck will arrive on time. A shared load truck on this corridor stops at Bangalore or Hassan to collect additional cargo, easily adding 6 to 10 hours. FTL gives you a direct truck from Chennai to Mangalore with no intermediate stops. Book via the online truck booking platform for confirmed rates.

Shiradi Ghat is the one factor that distinguishes this corridor from a straightforward two-day run. During monsoon, NHAI imposes restrictions on heavy vehicles on the Hassan-Mangalore stretch. Our team checks ghat status at the time of booking for any 20ft or 32ft vehicle orders placed between May and September. If the ghat is restricted, we route via Charmadi or confirm an alternate delivery schedule with you before the truck departs Chennai.

TruckGuru is FTL-only. For pharma or chemical shipments from Manali where co-loading with unknown cargo is a compliance issue, that matters. The intercity transport service covers full truck load bookings on this and all other south India corridors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the road distance from Chennai to Mangalore?

The road distance is approximately 720 km via NH 44 through Bangalore, then NH 75 to Mangalore. An alternate route via Salem, Coimbatore, and Calicut is about 780 km and is used when the Bangalore bypass is congested.

How long does truck transport take from Chennai to Mangalore?

FTL trucks on this corridor typically take 1 to 2 days. The Shiradi Ghat section on NH 75 (Hassan to Mangalore) is the main variable -- during monsoon season (June to September), heavy vehicle restrictions can add several hours or require a reroute. Outside monsoon, most deliveries arrive within 2 days of loading.

What are the truck transport rates from Chennai to Mangalore?

A 14ft Eicher (3.5T) costs Rs.25,500 to Rs.28,500 for FTL over 720 km. A Tata Ace (1,250 kg) costs Rs.21,000 to Rs.23,500. A 32ft container (7 to 8T) costs Rs.46,500 to Rs.49,000. Toll across two states is extra and billed on actuals. Use the freight calculator for a current rate before calling.

Are there vehicle restrictions on the Chennai to Mangalore route?

Yes. The Shiradi Ghat on NH 75 between Hassan and Mangalore has seasonal heavy vehicle restrictions during monsoon (June to September). 32ft containers and 20ft trucks may face convoy restrictions or timing-based access rules. Our team confirms ghat status for large vehicle bookings during this period. Outside monsoon, no significant restrictions apply on the standard route.

Which truck size should I use for a Chennai to Mangalore shipment?

For cargo under 1,250 kg, a Tata Ace covers this distance economically. For 1 to 3.5 tonnes, the 14ft Eicher is the standard choice on this corridor. For bulk cashew, tiles, or FMCG loads above 5 tonnes, a 20ft or 32ft container gives better per-tonne economics. Check the truck size guide for capacity details.

Do you offer part load or shared truck service from Chennai to Mangalore?

No. TruckGuru operates full truck load service only. We do not arrange LTL, shared trucks, or groupage bookings on this or any other route. Every booking is a dedicated vehicle for your cargo.

What types of goods can be transported from Chennai to Mangalore?

We carry pharmaceutical goods, FMCG, electronics, auto components, industrial components, chemical goods, and commercial packaging materials. We do not carry part loads, household goods, fresh seafood, live animals, or fertilizers on this route.

What are the payment terms for Chennai to Mangalore transport?

Payment is 5% at booking, 90% advance at loading, and 5% before unloading at Mangalore. The booking amount is non-refundable once driver and vehicle details have been shared.

Which Chennai areas do you pick up from?

We cover Ambattur Industrial Estate, Manali Industrial Area, Irungattukottai SIPCOT, Sriperumbudur, Guindy Industrial Estate, Madhavaram, and Koyambedu. Call +91-7202045678 if your pickup area is not listed.

Which areas in Mangalore do you deliver to?

We deliver to Bunder, Panambur, Yeyyadi Industrial Area, Surathkal, Bejai, Kankanady, Kavoor, Bikarnakatte, and Ullal. For Udupi or Kundapur (north of Mangalore), call before booking to confirm vehicle routing and availability.

How quickly does TruckGuru respond after I submit a booking?

Our team calls back within 30 minutes of a booking request -- Monday to Saturday 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and Sunday 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

Can I book a return load from Mangalore to Chennai?

Yes. Return loads from Mangalore -- cashew kernels, coconut oil, ceramic tiles, and coastal goods -- are available on this corridor. Call +91-7202045678 or use the freight calculator with Mangalore as the pickup city for a return rate. Vehicle availability on the return leg is generally good given the consistent freight volume from Mangalore to Tamil Nadu.

FTL means the entire truck carries only your goods. It picks up from your location and goes directly to the destination, no stops to consolidate other shipments, no detours. This is the right choice when you have enough volume to fill, or mostly fill, a truck, or when transit time matters.

Yes. Every truck on our platform carries GPS. Once your shipment moves, you can see its exact location from the app, no need to call the driver every few hours. You can also share the tracking link with your buyer or warehouse team so they know when to expect the delivery and can plan unloading accordingly.

Yes. Select your dispatch date when placing the booking and we will arrange the truck for that day. Advance booking helps during peak seasons, October through December, when festival demand and year-end dispatches tighten truck availability.

Yes. If you need to collect goods from more than one location or deliver to multiple destinations in a single trip, mention the stops when placing your booking. Our team will plan the route and confirm the fare covering all points before dispatch.

You can cancel before vehicle and driver details are shared, no charge applies. Once we assign a truck and share the details, the booking amount is non-refundable because the driver has already committed time and fuel.

Our truck fare covers transportation only. Loading, unloading, and packing are arranged separately at your end. If you need help finding labour at a specific location, reach out to our team, we can usually connect you with someone in the area who handles it regularly.

Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading, Balance due before unloading begins. We accept NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments are accepted.

Yes. Toll charges are included in the quoted freight rate on all intercity routes. You will not receive a separate toll bill after delivery. The rate confirmed at booking covers the full point-to-point movement.

We transport commercial and industrial goods including machinery, raw materials, FMCG products, textiles, auto parts, building materials, electronics, and agricultural produce. We do not transport household belongings for relocation, hazardous materials requiring special permits, or any restricted goods under Indian transport regulations.

A GST-compliant invoice is generated and sent to your registered email once the consignment is delivered. The Lorry Receipt (LR) is shared at the time of dispatch. Proof of Delivery (POD) is sent digitally after unloading is complete. If your accounts team needs a specific format or a consolidated monthly statement for multiple shipments, write to cs@truckguru.co.in.

The first 2 hours after the truck arrives at your location are free. After that, waiting charges range from Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 per day depending on the vehicle type. Keep your goods and paperwork, including GST invoice, e-Way Bill, and packing list, ready before the truck arrives to avoid delays.

GST on goods transport applies under the Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) at 5%. This means the shipper is responsible for filing and paying the GST on the transport service, not TruckGuru. Our invoices are GST-compliant and include all the details your accounts team needs for filing.

The consignor or consignee must generate Part A and Part B of the e-Way Bill before goods move. This is mandatory under GST rules for consignments valued above Rs.50,000. TruckGuru does not generate the e-Way Bill on your behalf, but our team can guide you through the process if needed.

Report any damage at the time of delivery to our team at +91-7202045678 with photographs taken before unloading. We investigate each claim on a case-by-case basis. We strongly recommend that shippers arrange their own transit insurance for high-value consignments, as TruckGuru's liability is limited to the terms agreed at the time of booking.

No. TruckGuru provides full truckload (FTL) intercity goods transport only. We do not handle parcels, courier shipments, bike transport, car transport, household shifting, or within-city local deliveries. If you need these services, we recommend contacting a specialist provider in your city.

Call +91-7202045678 or email cs@truckguru.co.in. Our customer support team is available Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and Sunday 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Moving Goods Is Simple with TruckGuru

Tips for Booking a Truck

Start with the weight and dimensions of your goods, not the truck size. A 2-ton textile shipment from Surat to Mumbai fits comfortably in an Eicher 14FT (3.5T capacity, Rs.31-35/km). Picking the wrong truck size is the most common reason shippers overpay on freight.

Get your rate confirmed before the truck is dispatched. On TruckGuru, the price you see at booking is the price you pay. The split is simple: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading, Balance due before unloading. If a platform or broker revises the rate at the loading dock, that is a red flag.

Check whether the transporter provides live GPS tracking and digital documentation including LR, invoice, and POD. Chasing a driver by phone for location updates wastes hours every trip. On busy corridors like Ahmedabad-Mumbai or Delhi-Jaipur, a single delayed update can throw off your warehouse unloading schedule.

Book 2-3 days ahead when possible. Same-day availability is common on most routes, but during October-December peak season, trucks on high-demand corridors fill up fast. Advance booking also gives you better vehicle options for goods that need closed-body or containerised transport.
