Many of its original sheds are still working: electrical motors, transformers, pumps, printing, precision engineering and garment units, now surrounded by tech parks and offices. The mix means Guindy ships a wide range of freight from a small area, most of it in 14ft and 20ft trucks.

What leaves Guindy
Electrical equipment is the biggest share: motors, transformers, switchgear and panels made in the estate go to contractors and utilities across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra. Pumps and engineering parts follow. Printing units ship books, packaging and labels. A few garment exporters still operate here and ship to Tiruppur and the port.
Transformers and large motors need open-body trucks with crane or forklift loading. Panels and printed goods go in closed bodies. Tell us the load type at booking.
A central location with city rules
Guindy sits inside Chennai's city limits, next to the Kathipara junction and the airport. That is convenient for staff but hard on trucks. Heavy goods vehicles face day-time restrictions on many city roads, and the Kathipara and GST Road junctions jam at peak hours.
What works: load in the afternoon and let the truck leave after 9 pm, or load very early in the morning before 7 am. Bangalore and Hyderabad trucks going out at night reach the highway quickly via the Poonamallee bypass or the Outer Ring Road.

- Up to 1,100 kg: Tata Ace

Shipping electrical equipment safely
Electrical goods are the load Guindy knows best, and they fail in transit in predictable ways. Panels get scratched or dented when they shift against the side wall. Motors crack their mounting feet when they are not bolted to a pallet. Transformers leak oil when they tilt.
- Bolt motors and transformers to wooden skids before loading.
- Stand panels upright, wrap them, and tie them to the side rails with padding between the panel and the rail.
- Keep transformers level, and do not stack anything on top.
- For oil-filled transformers, check the valves are closed and the tank is sealed.
A little extra time at loading saves an expensive repair at the customer's site.
Utility and project deliveries
Much of Guindy's electrical output goes to substations, project sites and utility stores. These have strict receiving rules: fixed hours, inspection on arrival, and documents such as test certificates and dispatch clearances. Share the site contact and receiving rules at booking. The driver will call ahead, but a site that is not expecting the truck can refuse it for the day.
Project sites are often off the main road on rough tracks. Send a location pin and tell us if the last stretch is unpaved, so we send a truck that can manage it.
Busy periods
Utility and government project deliveries peak in the last quarter of the financial year, January to March, as budgets are spent. Book a day or two ahead in those months.
Monsoon
Chennai's northeast monsoon, October to December, floods low-lying roads around Guindy and Velachery quickly. Heavy spells can stop loading for a few hours. Closed bodies are a must for electrical panels and printed goods in those months.
Payment
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
