Rourkela sits in Odisha's Sundargarh district and grew around the SAIL steel plant, one of the country's oldest integrated plants. The Kalunga industrial estate and a ring of ancillary units supply it, and the iron ore and mining belt to the north keeps heavy equipment dealers busy. How the truck gets there
Most drivers take the Samruddhi Expressway to Nagpur, follow NH53 through Durg and Raipur, and then continue east across Chhattisgarh into Odisha. The last part of the trip runs through mining and forest country where roads narrow and truck traffic is heavy with ore and coal, so average speed drops in the final 300 km or so.
With two state borders on the trip, keep the paperwork tidy. One e-way bill covers the full route for goods above Rs.50,000, generated by the consignor or consignee. If the invoice and e-way bill don't match on value or address, expect questions at checks. Get them right before loading.

A judgment call from the ops desk
Do not send a plant consignment on a Friday evening if the consignee's stores close on Sunday. The truck reaches on day three, finds the gate shut and waits. Ask the stores department about their receiving days before you fix the pickup date. And in the monsoon, from July to September, add a day of buffer for the Odisha stretch.
Handover and documents
A digital Lorry Receipt is issued at loading. GPS tracking runs from dispatch to delivery, and the GST invoice follows delivery. You arrange labour or a crane for loading and unloading, and transit insurance if you want it.
