Ranchi sits in the middle of Jharkhand's industrial map. Jamshedpur's steel and auto belt is two to three hours south-east, Bokaro and Dhanbad are to the east, and Rourkela is across the Odisha border to the south-west. Ranchi's own units, in Tupudana, Namkum and Kokar and around the HEC area in Dhurwa, supply those towns with fabricated parts, electrical items, bearings and maintenance spares. Distributors in the city restock dealers across the state. A good share of these loads is under a tonne.

To Jamshedpur, about 130 km, same-day delivery possible if the truck loads early; otherwise next day. The Tata-Ranchi highway has ghat sections near Tamar where a loaded Ace moves slowly, and heavy vehicles use the same road. Patna usually takes 1 day via Hazaribagh, and Kolkata 1 day via Jamshedpur or Dhanbad depending on which road is in better shape that month.
One thing we have learned on this region: in the monsoon, road repair works on the plateau shift week to week. We confirm the route with the driver on the day rather than assuming.
Mini truck capacity, and when to go bigger
A Tata Ace, Dost or Pickup carries 750 kg - 1,100 kg. A closed-body Bada Dost takes up to 1.5 ton and keeps cartons dry during the July-September rains, which are heavy on the plateau.
Mining and plant spares are often dense. A single gearbox or a few rolls of cable can reach the limit fast, so weigh it rather than guess. Anything past about 1.1 ton should go in a 14FT Eicher (3.5 ton); past 5 ton, a 19FT Eicher or 32FT container. What we need from you, and what you get
Pickup address, destination, weight, cargo type and date. Book on the website or the TruckGuru app, and our team calls back within 30 minutes during working hours (Mon-Sat 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM, Sun 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM).
At loading you receive a digital Lorry Receipt. The vehicle is GPS tracked until delivery. A GST invoice follows. Loading and unloading labour is arranged by you, and so is transit insurance. For goods worth more than 50,000 rupees, the consignor or consignee generates the e-way bill. Rourkela, Patna and Kolkata trips are interstate, so have it ready before dispatch.
Chota Hathi (Mini Truck) rates in Ranchi
Truck freight rates are not fixed. What a load costs depends on the route, vehicle type, load capacity needed, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are running that lane that week. Vehicles into Jamshedpur usually find a return load quickly; Patna-bound vehicles sometimes do not, and that shows in the quote.

Usually yes if you book today during working hours. Jamshedpur is our most regular lane from Ranchi.
What is the maximum load?
750 kg - 1,100 kg on an Ace / Dost / Pickup, up to 1.5 ton on a closed-body Bada Dost.
Do you deliver inside Ranchi, like Kanke to Doranda?
No. We only take intercity loads over 100 km.
How long will Ranchi to Kolkata take?
About 400 km, usually within 1 day. A morning start usually delivers late evening or first thing next day.
Can the vehicle carry a motor or gearbox?
Yes, within the weight limit and if it is properly secured on a pallet or skid. Tell us the weight and size.
Is it only my goods in the vehicle?
Yes. One vehicle per consignment.
Who loads it?
You arrange loading and unloading labour at both ends. The driver ties and covers the load.
Will the rate be the same next week?
Not necessarily. Rates are not fixed and change with lane demand and availability.
Can I send my own things to Patna in a Chota Hathi (mini truck)?
Our trucks mostly carry business loads. For a one-off household move to another city, we can supply the truck and driver. Packing, loading and unloading are arranged by you.
What are the payment terms?
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
How do I know the vehicle is on the way?
Every vehicle is GPS tracked from dispatch to delivery, and the location is visible in the app.
