Goods that reach Siliguri rarely stay there. The town is the stocking point for Darjeeling and the Dooars tea belt, for Sikkim, and for traders who deal with the Nepal and Bhutan border towns. Distributors here hold stock of FMCG, garments, electrical goods, hardware, medicines and building material, then send it up the hills in smaller vehicles. A lot of that stock starts in Delhi.

Who books this lane
Mostly Delhi wholesalers and manufacturers shipping to their Siliguri distributor, and brands restocking a regional depot. The cargo is usually mixed cartons, which is why closed containers dominate. Some loads are heavier: pipes, sanitaryware, tiles and electrical cable for construction work in north Bengal and Sikkim.
If your goods are dense, check weight before length. A 7 ton load of cable drums does not need a 32FT container.
Loading in Delhi has its own timing issue. Many wholesale markets in the old city do not allow big trucks in during the day, so loads from those areas are often brought to a godown on the outskirts first, or loaded early in the morning or at night. Route and paperwork
The normal run is NH27 east through Lucknow and Gorakhpur, across north Bihar via Muzaffarpur and Purnia, into West Bengal and on to Siliguri. That covers Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal after leaving Delhi, so an e-way bill is needed for goods over Rs.50,000. The consignor or consignee generates it, using the vehicle number we confirm.
Transit is 2-3 days. The driver rests at night. Floods in north Bihar during the monsoon can slow the run, so add a buffer between July and September.
The mistake to avoid: booking a big truck for a hill address
We see this often. A shipper books a 32FT container to "Siliguri" when the real consignee is in Gangtok or Kalimpong. Big trucks do not belong on those hill roads, and landslides in the rains make it worse. The goods then have to be unloaded in Siliguri and reloaded anyway, at extra cost and with a day lost.
Better to plan it that way from the start: one truck from Delhi to a godown or distributor in Siliguri, and the hill leg booked separately in a smaller vehicle. Tell us the final address and we will tell you honestly what makes sense.

Will I get an LR and invoice?
Yes. A digital Lorry Receipt at loading and a GST invoice after delivery. GPS tracking runs throughout.
Is transit insurance part of the booking?
