Where we load in the Mumbai region
Each area has its own kind of cargo and its own loading quirks.
- Bhiwandi: FMCG, e-commerce, consumer durables, textiles. Busy docks; share the complex name and gala number.
- Taloja and Turbhe MIDC: chemicals, pharma intermediates, paints. MSDS needed for chemicals.
- Andheri, Marol and Saki Naka: electronics, printing, light engineering. City entry timing rules apply.
- Vasai, Palghar and Tarapur: engineering, pharma, chemicals on the northern edge.

Picking the truck
The mistake we see most often in Mumbai is booking by habit. A shipper always books a 20ft truck, even for 3 ton of cartons that would fit a 14ft Eicher for less. Or books a 20ft truck for 9 ton of steel, which is over its limit and gets it fined at the first weighbridge on NH-48.

Mumbai's entry rules and timing
Mumbai restricts heavy goods vehicles on many city roads during the day. Loads from Bhiwandi, Taloja, Tarapur and JNPT are not affected, since those areas sit outside the restricted zone. Loads from Andheri, Kurla, Lower Parel or South Mumbai usually have to move at night.
For outbound trips, evening loadings are the norm. A truck leaving Bhiwandi at 8 pm clears the Ghodbunder and Nashik highway traffic and runs through the night. For Pune, a morning loading after 10 am avoids the expressway rush.
The monsoon
From June to September, Mumbai gets some of the heaviest rain of any Indian metro. Low-lying stretches near Bhiwandi, Kurla and Sion flood, and loading can stop for hours. The Kasara ghat toward Nashik and the Khandala ghat toward Pune slow down in heavy spells. We suggest closed bodies or containers for anything that must stay dry, and an extra half day of buffer on any promise you make to your consignee.
Port cargo at JNPT
For export loads, work back from the port cut-off. A truck loading in Pune for JNPT needs to leave at least 8 hours before the cut-off; from Bhiwandi, allow 4 hours. Share the CFS name, booking number and cut-off time at booking. For import containers, we arrange trucks from CFS areas in Uran and Nhava Sheva to inland buyers.
What goes wrong at Bhiwandi, and how to avoid it
Bhiwandi's warehouse complexes are crowded, and three things cost trucks the most time there. First, dock queues. Big complexes can have 20 trucks waiting for a handful of docks in the evening. Ask your warehouse for a dock slot and share it with us; we time the reporting to match.
Second, documents. A truck that reaches the dock before the invoice and e-way bill are ready waits in the queue while the next truck takes its place. Keep documents ready before the truck arrives.
Third, the approach roads. The Mumbai-Nashik highway near Bhiwandi and the Kalyan-Bhiwandi road jam badly in the monsoon and during festivals. We send trucks early when rain or traffic is expected.
Busy seasons
The six weeks before Diwali are the tightest time to hire a truck in Mumbai. FMCG and consumer durable brands move stock out of Bhiwandi to every corner of the country, and trucks get booked 3 to 4 days ahead. March, at financial year-end, is the second peak, as companies clear invoices before the books close. If you have fixed dispatch dates in either period, tell us early.
Return traffic into Mumbai is strong from Gujarat and north India, which keeps outbound availability good the rest of the year. Southbound trucks to Bangalore and Chennai are a little tighter, and we suggest booking a day earlier for those.
Booking and payment
Book online or through the TruckGuru app. Once the vehicle is assigned, the driver's details come to you before the truck reports. Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
