The Konkan run
Ratnagiri and the Konkan coast are a mini truck route that bigger trucks do not like. NH-66 through Panvel, Mangaon and Chiplun is two-lane for long stretches, with ghat sections and village traffic. A Tata Ace handles it well, and traders in Chiplun, Ratnagiri and Sawantwadi order in small lots that fit its 1,100 kg limit.
From June to September, the Konkan gets extreme rainfall, and the Kashedi ghat can close for hours after landslides. Plan an extra half day, and use a closed body or a full tarpaulin.
What leaves Bhiwandi and Kalyan in a mini truck
FMCG restocks, consumer electronics, packaged food, household consumables for shops, textile bundles from Bhiwandi's powerlooms, and hardware. Most of these are cartons that fill the deck before they reach the weight limit. Why a small vehicle makes sense here
Distributors in Thane district used to wait until they had enough orders to fill a bigger truck, then send everything on one route. That works for regular stock, but shops now expect faster top-ups. A mini truck lets a distributor send a single urgent order the same day, without holding it for a full load.
