Goods transport, one truck per consignment

A transport service in India can mean anything from a tempo in a local market to a trailer moving steel coils across five states. TruckGuru does one part of it: full truck loads between cities, for businesses. Your goods go into a truck that carries nothing else, from your loading point to the receiver's gate, on routes over 100 km across 110+ cities.

That rules out shared trucks. It also means nobody opens the truck mid-way to add another party's cartons, which is where most damage and short-delivery claims start.

Closed container transport

20FT and 32FT containers with a locked steel body. This is the default for pharma, electronics, FMCG cartons, garments and anything that must stay dry over two or three days of highway. Details on container truck transport.

Open body trucks

Eicher trucks with an open deck and tarpaulin, for machinery, pipes, construction material, bagged goods and loads that are craned or forklifted in from the side. See open truck transport.

Industrial and chemical loads

Drummed and packed chemicals, auto components, castings and engineering goods from industrial estates. For chemical cargo, the permits and material safety sheets come from the shipper; the truck side is covered on chemical truck transportation.

Regular lane dispatches

Weekly plant-to-depot or supplier-to-factory runs on the same lane. Tell our team the pattern at booking. A repeat lane is easier to plan trucks for, and the same drivers get to know your gate and your loading hours.

Choosing a truck for your goods

Pick by volume as well as weight. Foam, plastic moulded parts and packed snacks fill a 32FT body long before they reach its load capacity, while steel parts can max out a 19FT truck with half the floor empty. Never overload to save a trip: an overweight truck gets stopped at weighbridges and checkposts, and the fine and delay land on your consignment. Body sizes are on the truck size guide.

Where the trucks run

Most loads start from an industrial belt, not a city centre. The busiest pickup areas by region:

• West: Bhiwandi, Taloja and Chakan in Maharashtra; Sanand, Vapi and Ankleshwar in Gujarat. See Mumbai transport services and Ahmedabad transport services.

When trucks get hard to find

Three stretches of the year change how quickly a truck turns up.

October to December is the busiest. Festive stock for FMCG, appliances and garments moves on every major lane, and trucks that would take your load on a Tuesday are booked through the week. In March, plants and distributors push year-end dispatches before 31 March, and lanes out of industrial belts tighten for two or three weeks. From June to September, the monsoon slows the Western Ghats, the Konkan and parts of the North-East, so plan an extra day on anything time-bound.

Outside those months, two days' notice covers most lanes.

What goods transport costs

Truck freight rates are not fixed. What a load costs depends on the route, vehicle type, load capacity needed, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are running that lane that week. A lane like Mumbai to Ahmedabad has trucks most days; a load into a small town with no return cargo takes longer to cover and prices differently.

Paperwork on every consignment

Each trip carries a digital Lorry Receipt at loading, GPS tracking from dispatch to delivery, and a GST invoice after delivery. The e-way bill is generated by the consignor or consignee for goods above Rs.50,000; share it once we confirm the vehicle number, since the two must match. Industry permits, such as drug licences or hazardous-goods paperwork, stay with the shipper. Loading labour, unloading labour and transit insurance are arranged at your end.

Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.

How to book

Enter the loading city, destination, cargo and weight on truckguru.co.in or the TruckGuru app, choose the truck and pay the Booking Amount. Our team calls back within 30 minutes (Mon-Sat 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM, Sun 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM) with the driver's name, vehicle number and phone number. Book two days ahead on most lanes, and three or four from October to December.

What we do not carry

Questions businesses ask about goods transport

Do you do part load transport?

No. Every booking is a full truck for one consignment. If your load is small, the smallest truck is an Ace / Dost / Pickup, 750 kg - 1,100 kg, and you pay for the whole truck.

Can you move goods from one state to another?

Yes. Most of our loads cross at least one state border. The e-way bill must cover the full route, and toll is included in the trip fare across every state.

How much does a 14ft truck cost from Mumbai to Ahmedabad?

A 14FT Eicher from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, about 524 km, is indicatively Rs.18,200 - Rs.21,300 for the trip, toll included (checked September 2026). Rates are not fixed; confirm the current rate at booking.

Open truck or container: which should I choose?

A container for anything that must stay dry or sealed, such as pharma, electronics and cartons. An open truck for machinery, pipes and loads that need a crane or side loading.

Is toll charged separately?

No. Toll is included in the trip fare. There is no separate toll bill.

Who arranges loading and unloading labour?

You do, at both ends. Tell us at booking if the goods need a forklift or crane, so we send a body that suits it.

Do you carry chemicals?

Packed and drummed chemicals, yes. Permits and material safety sheets come from the shipper, and the cargo must be declared correctly at booking.

Can you transport a car or bike?

No. We do not carry vehicles of any kind.
