Book Tata AceOctober to December is the hard season here
Chennai gets most of its rain from the northeast monsoon, and the industrial parks west of the city feel it. Low-lying approach roads flood, gates run slow, and an open-deck truck that leaves Vadagal in a downpour can arrive in Salem with wet cartons. If your units in the Vallam-Vadagal SIPCOT park ship finished goods or packaging in the last quarter of the year, the truck and the tarpaulin matter more than the rate.

Choosing the body for the season
For most of the year an open 407 with a good tarpaulin is enough for machined parts, steel components and drums. From October to December, and for anything in cartons, ask for a covered body at booking. If the cargo is electronics, printed packaging or anything that must stay bone dry, we would rather book a 20FT container than risk it; see the container truck page.
Our view: on heavy-rain days, load in the afternoon lull if there is one, and let the driver leave after the evening rain rather than into it. A few hours' delay is cheaper than a damaged consignment.

The road is NH48 as far as Krishnagiri, then south-west on the Salem side. Krishnagiri itself can back up in the evenings with Bangalore-bound traffic. A 407 that clears it by late afternoon usually has a clear run to Salem.
What a 407 carries here
About 2.5 ton. That covers a pallet or two of machined components, a few drums of lubricants or chemicals (declared at booking), bales of packaging film, or cartons of finished electricals. Long pieces are the limit: the deck is shorter than an Eicher's, so check the truck size guide if you have bars or panels. Past 2.5 ton, a 14FT Eicher (3.5 ton) or 19FT Eicher (7 ton) is the next step. Lots under a tonne travel cheaper on a Mini truck.
We do not do deliveries inside the Chennai area. Every trip is intercity.
Paperwork and who does what
For goods over 50,000 rupees the consignor or consignee generates the e-way bill. You arrange loading and unloading labour and transit insurance. We give you a digital Lorry Receipt at loading, GPS tracking to delivery, and a GST invoice once the goods are unloaded. The callback after booking comes within 30 minutes in working hours.
Tata 407 rates from Vadagal
Truck freight rates are not fixed. What a load costs depends on the route, vehicle type, load capacity needed, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are running that lane that week. During heavy-rain weeks fewer trucks accept loads out of the parks, and a covered 407 is harder to find than an open one, so book a day or two ahead.

About 460 km, 10-11 hours by truck. Evening loading means a morning delivery.
Can the 407 take drums of chemicals?
Tell us the exact product at booking. Some materials need specific documents or vehicles, and we will say if we cannot place a truck for it.

No. It is a short local trip. We only book routes over 100 km.

What are the payment terms?
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
Is the Salem rate fixed?
No. Rates are not fixed. They move with date, load and truck supply, and toll is included in the trip price.
Who loads the truck?
Your team or a labour contractor you arrange. The driver secures and covers the load.
