A Burrabazar stockist restocking a dealer in Durgapur. A Howrah foundry sending pump casings to Jamshedpur. A Dankuni FMCG depot topping up a distributor in Kharagpur. None of these fill a big truck, and all of them are over 100 km. That is where a Tata 407 on rent in Kolkata earns its place. TruckGuru books the 407 with driver for intercity trips only, out of Kolkata and Howrah to towns across Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Bihar, or into Kolkata from those places.
We do not do deliveries inside Kolkata, Howrah or Salt Lake. Every booking is over 100 km.
Pickups from Howrah, the Dankuni and Uluberia belts, or the depots along NH 16 get onto the highway quickly, and a 407 can leave in daylight without much fuss. Central Kolkata is different. Goods vehicle movement on many city roads is restricted in the day, so pickups from Burrabazar, Posta or the Canning Street area are usually planned for late evening or early morning. Tell us the exact pickup lane at booking and the time the shop can load. The Bantala leather complex and the Taratala industrial pockets fall in between; we plan those case by case.
| To | About | What usually goes |
| Kharagpur | 120 km | FMCG, hardware, electricals |
| Haldia | 125 km | Spares and consumables for port-side plants |
| Durgapur | 170 km | Trade stock, steel fittings |
| Asansol | 210 km | Distributor stock, pipes, sanitary items |
| Jamshedpur | 280 km | Castings, industrial spares |
| Bhubaneswar | 440 km | Jute bags, packaged food, electricals |
| Siliguri | 580 km | Wholesale stock for north Bengal and the Northeast trade |
Siliguri is the long one. By 407 it is about a day and a half with the driver's night halt, and the stretch past Farakka can hold trucks up for hours. Book it with a margin. For Jharkhand and Odisha runs the e-way bill must cover the interstate move.
A 407 carries about 2.5 ton. Jute bales and sacks of rice or pulses reach that fast. Steel pipes need deck length the 407 does not have. If either happens, a 14FT Eicher (3.5 ton) or 19FT Eicher (7 ton) is the next step, and paper cartons for the monsoon months go better in a container truck. For light parcels of stock under a tonne, the Tata Ace is enough. Our Kolkata truck hire page covers bigger loads from the city.
The consignor or consignee generates the e-way bill for goods above 50,000 rupees. We issue a digital Lorry Receipt at loading, track the truck by GPS until it reaches the unloading point, and send a GST invoice after delivery. Loading and unloading labour and transit insurance are arranged by you.
Truck freight rates are not fixed. What a load costs depends on the route, vehicle type, load capacity needed, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are running that lane that week. In the weeks before Durga Puja, trade stock moves hard out of Burrabazar and small trucks book out; place requests three to four days ahead in September.
TruckGuru pricing is quoted per trip at the time of booking, with toll included.
Current freight rates depend on route, vehicle type, cargo and availability. Check the live rate when booking.

No. Those are local trips under 100 km. We only book intercity loads.
About 2.5 ton. Above that we suggest a 14FT Eicher.
Around a day and a half by 407 for about 580 km, including the driver's night rest.
Rates are not fixed. They change with date, cargo and how many trucks are on that lane. You get the trip price, toll included, when you book.
Your labour. Loading and unloading labour is arranged by the customer.
Yes, on the TruckGuru app. A callback follows within 30 minutes during working hours.
No. One truck, one consignment. Every truck we book carries one shipper's goods.

Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
Yes, after delivery, along with the digital Lorry Receipt issued at loading.

Live tracking
Once your shipment moves, its position updates live on the map. Share the tracking link with your buyer or warehouse so unloading is planned before the truck arrives.
"We ship auto components from our Pune plant to distributors in eight states. Earlier every dispatch meant three or four calls to brokers just to get a rate. Now we check the fare online, confirm the truck, and track it on GPS till delivery. Our team saves close to two hours on every booking."
"Our textile unit in Surat moves fifteen to twenty truckloads a month to retailers across South India. TruckGuru gave us one dashboard to book, one number to call, and the GST invoice reaches us the same day. Rates are competitive with no surprise charges at delivery, and that consistency matters when you ship every week."
"We run a packaging materials unit in Ahmedabad and dispatch to factories across Maharashtra and Rajasthan. What sold us on TruckGuru was the rate transparency. The fare we confirmed at booking was the fare on the invoice, toll included, with nothing added at the weighbridge. Fourteen months in and we have not had a single billing dispute."
"I handle procurement for a pharma distributor in Hyderabad and our cargo needs careful handling. TruckGuru gives us a coordinator who checks that every truck is clean and covered before loading. The digital LR and POD reach my inbox before the driver leaves the drop point, which saves us a lot during audits."
Enter Kolkata as pickup (or drop), choose the truck size and you see the rate before you confirm, on truckguru.co.in or the TruckGuru app. Driver and vehicle details are shared once the booking is confirmed.
Tata Ace (up to 1,100 kg), Bada Dost (up to 1.7 ton open body, 1.5 ton closed), Eicher 14FT (3.5 ton), Eicher 17FT (5 ton), Eicher 19FT (7 ton), 20FT Container (6.5 ton) and 32FT Container (7 to 18 ton). Pick the size by the weight of your load; if it is close to the limit, take the next size up.
Yes. Every trip runs with GPS tracking, and you get the driver's number once the truck is assigned.
Yes. Toll is included in the fare you confirm for trips from Kolkata. No separate toll bill is raised after delivery.
A day before loading is usually enough for smaller trucks. For 32FT containers, or at month end when dispatches peak, book 2 to 3 days ahead to get more trucks to choose from.
Start with the weight and dimensions of your goods, not the truck size. A 2-ton textile shipment from Surat to Mumbai fits comfortably in an Eicher 14FT (3.5T capacity). Picking the wrong truck size is the most common reason shippers overpay on freight.
Get your rate confirmed before the truck is dispatched. On TruckGuru, the price you see at booking is the price you pay. The split is simple: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading, Balance due before unloading. If a platform or broker revises the rate at the loading dock, that is a red flag.
Check whether the transporter provides live GPS tracking and digital documentation including LR, invoice, and POD. Chasing a driver by phone for location updates wastes hours every trip. On busy corridors like Ahmedabad-Mumbai or Delhi-Jaipur, a single delayed update can throw off your warehouse unloading schedule.
Book 2-3 days ahead when possible. Same-day availability is common on most routes, but during October-December peak season, trucks on high-demand corridors fill up fast. Advance booking also gives you better vehicle options for goods that need closed-body or containerised transport.
