Big trucks serve Kolkata's main lanes to Delhi and Mumbai. The Tata Ace does a quieter job: it takes 800 kg of stock from a seller in Topsia or Taratala to a retailer in Bardhaman, Bolpur or Malda, towns where a 19FT Eicher would never fill and a courier would charge by the carton. That is where most of our Tata Ace for rent in Kolkata bookings go.
TruckGuru rents the Ace with driver for trips over 100 km, one consignment per vehicle, straight to the receiver. We do not handle deliveries within Kolkata, Howrah or the suburbs.
Lanes and what to expect on each
West and north-west: Bardhaman, Bolpur
Bardhaman is about 105 km on the Durgapur Expressway and Bolpur is about 160 km; for both, same-day delivery is possible if the truck loads early, otherwise next day. Loads here are FMCG, stationery and electrical goods for district distributors.
South-west: Kharagpur, Digha
Kharagpur, about 130 km on NH-16, and Digha, about 185 km, can both be same-day deliveries if the truck loads early; otherwise next day. In the tourist season Digha pulls packaged food and beverage stock for hotels.
North Bengal: Malda, Siliguri
Malda is about 330 km and Siliguri about 570 km. The Farakka stretch on NH-12 is the slow point on both; a jam at the barrage can hold vehicles for hours. Our view: for Siliguri, an Ace is only worth it for urgent or light cargo. If the load is anywhere near a tonne, a 14FT Eicher with 3.5 ton load capacity does the trip with more margin, and costs less per kg moved.
Before the Ace reaches your gate
- Weigh the load. The Ace / Dost / Pickup class carries up to 1,100 kg, a closed body up to 1.5 ton.
- Have loaders ready. Loading and unloading labour is arranged by you.
- Keep the e-way bill ready for goods worth over 50,000 rupees; the consignor or consignee generates it.
- For e-commerce stock, share the receiver's slot so the Ace does not arrive at a closed dock.
Monsoon in south Bengal is long and wet. For cartons, the closed body is worth asking for between June and October. Compare vehicles on the truck type page.
Tata Ace rates in Kolkata
Truck freight rates are not fixed. What a load costs depends on the route, vehicle type, load capacity needed, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are running that lane that week. An Ace for Siliguri is harder to line up in the Durga Puja weeks, when every distributor in North Bengal is restocking at once.

How the booking runs
Book on the website or the TruckGuru app with pickup, drop, weight and date. Our team calls back within 30 minutes during working hours (Mon-Sat 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM, Sun 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM). The driver carries a digital Lorry Receipt from loading, the Ace is GPS tracked to delivery, and a GST invoice follows. Transit insurance is yours to arrange if you want cover. Can I get an Ace from Taratala to Bardhaman this afternoon?
Often yes if you book by late morning. Bardhaman is about 105 km on the expressway, so same-day delivery is possible if the truck loads early; otherwise next day.
Do you do Kolkata to Howrah or Salt Lake deliveries?
No. We only book intercity trips over 100 km.
How much weight does a Tata Ace carry?
Up to 1,100 kg for the open version, up to 1.5 ton in a closed-body Bada Dost.
Is an Ace good for Siliguri?
For light or urgent cargo, yes. For close to a tonne, we suggest a 14FT Eicher because the trip is about 570 km and the Farakka stretch is slow.
Do I need an e-way bill within West Bengal?
Yes, for goods worth over 50,000 rupees. The consignor or consignee generates it before loading.
Will my goods share the vehicle?
No. One consignment per Ace, direct delivery.
Who does loading at my shop?
You arrange loading and unloading labour. The driver secures and covers the load.
Can I see where the Ace is?
Yes. GPS tracking runs from dispatch to delivery, visible on the app.
Can I rent an Ace to send my own things to Siliguri?
Our trucks mostly carry business loads. For a one-off household move to another city, we can supply the truck and driver. Packing, loading and unloading are arranged by you.
What are the payment terms?
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
Is the rate the same every week?
No. Rates are not fixed. They move with season, lane and vehicle availability, and the rate for your date is confirmed at booking.
