Hundreds of factories along the Morbi-Wankaner and Morbi-Halvad roads make floor and wall tiles, vitrified slabs and sanitaryware, and the town also has a long-standing wall clock industry. The kilns need glazes, frits, ceramic pigments, digital printing inks, kiln rollers and machinery spares, and a fair share of those reach India through Mumbai's ports or come from suppliers in the Mumbai region.

Glaze chemicals are heavy, tiles are heavier
Ceramic inputs are dense. Glaze and frit bags, pigment drums and ink cans add up fast, and a truck reaches its load capacity with floor space to spare. Book by weight:
- A few drums of ink or a crate of spares under a tonne: Ace / Dost / Pickup, up to 1,100 kg
- Up to 3.5 ton of glaze bags: 14FT Eicher
- 5 to 7 ton: 17FT or 19FT Eicher
- Machinery parts and kiln rollers that need cover: 20FT container (6.5 ton) or 32FT container (7-8 ton)
Kiln rollers are long and brittle. Tell us the length at booking so the right body is sent; the truck size chart lists inside length per vehicle.
About 690 km, and how it is driven
Transit is 1-2 days. Trucks run NH 48 north from the Mumbai side through Valsad, Surat and Vadodara, then cut west across to Saurashtra and Morbi. Only one border is crossed, Maharashtra into Gujarat.
NH 48 between Mumbai and Vadodara is one of the busiest freight corridors in the country, and the stretch around Vapi, Valsad and Surat sees heavy jams in peak hours. A truck that loads in the morning in Bhiwandi often reaches Morbi on the second day for that reason.
The e-way bill is generated by the consignor or consignee for goods above Rs.50,000. Make sure the consignee GSTIN matches the factory, since many Morbi groups run several units under different names.

Things worth knowing before you dispatch
Morbi factory addresses are confusing to outsiders. Units are named by brand, the road is named by the next town, and plots run for kilometres. A location pin from the consignee is worth more than the full postal address.
Tile despatches out of Morbi keep trucks moving back towards Mumbai, so the lane rarely runs short. The pinch is the weeks around Diwali, when factories shut for the holidays and trucks head home. Book 2-3 days ahead in late October and avoid deliveries during the closure.
Pickups across the Mumbai region are on truck hire in Mumbai. Loads that start in Gujarat can use truck hire in Vadodara, where our office is.

Who arranges loading?
Loading and unloading labour is arranged by the customer. Most Morbi factories have forklifts and staff at the stores.
How do I keep track?
GPS tracking from dispatch to delivery, a digital Lorry Receipt at loading, and a GST invoice after delivery.
What are the payment terms?
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
Is the cargo insured in transit?
Transit insurance is arranged by the customer, not included in the fare.
