Trucks from Delhi to the Bokaro steel belt

Bokaro grew around the SAIL steel plant, and much of what the town buys from Delhi is tied to it in some way: machine spares, electrical panels, bearings, safety gear and consumables for the contractors and ancillary units that work around the plant, plus the FMCG and consumer durables a steel town of its size runs through every month. TruckGuru books a dedicated full truck with driver for that lane, about 1,200 km from Delhi, loaded once at your gate and unloaded at your consignee in Bokaro.

Book on the website or app, or call +91-7202045678. After the booking is placed, our team calls you back within 30 minutes in working hours to confirm the truck, the loading time and the documents.

How the truck gets there

The usual run is the old Grand Trunk Road, now NH19. From Delhi the truck heads to Agra, either down the Faridabad-Palwal side through Haryana or along the Yamuna Expressway through Uttar Pradesh, then continues past Kanpur, Prayagraj and Varanasi, crosses Bihar through the Aurangabad and Barhi stretch, and enters Jharkhand. The last part leaves the highway towards Chas and Bokaro.

That is three or four state borders depending on the Agra approach, so the e-way bill has to be in order before the truck moves. For goods above Rs.50,000 the consignor or consignee generates it, and the vehicle number we confirm at booking goes on it.

Plan on 2-3 days on the road. The driver rests at night, and the stretch through Bihar and the climb into the Jharkhand plateau are slower than the plains part of the run.

Gate passes are the usual hold-up

Most delays we see on this lane are not on the highway. They happen at the delivery end. If your consignee is a contractor or vendor working inside a plant area, the truck usually needs an entry pass, a purchase order reference and sometimes a fixed reporting slot. A truck that turns up without these can sit outside the gate for a day.

Ask your consignee for the entry requirements before you book, and share the contact person's number with us. We pass it to the driver so he can call ahead from Dhanbad.

What usually goes from Delhi to Bokaro

  • Motors, pumps, cables and switchgear from the Delhi NCR electrical trade
  • Bearings, fasteners, hand tools and hardware for maintenance stores
  • Safety shoes, helmets and workwear in bulk cartons
  • FMCG, packaged food and consumer durables for Bokaro distributors
  • Pipes, fittings and building material for construction work in the town

For bulky but light cargo like cartons of workwear, a container is the better choice because it keeps the load dry and sealed. For dense items like bearings or fasteners, check the weight first; it often fits a smaller Eicher than people expect.

Picking a truck for this lane

On a run of 1,200 km the trip cost is close to proportional to the distance, so oversizing the truck costs real money. Use the truck size guide if you are unsure about dimensions, or send us the packing list and weight and we will suggest a vehicle. Closed containers are the default for anything that should not get wet; for steel structures or long pipes, an open body works, and you can read more on our open truck page.

Book - Rates

These figures are a guide, not a fixed price. Rates move with diesel, demand on the eastern lanes, the vehicle and the date, so the confirmed rate is the one shown when you book.

One honest note: this is not a scheduled daily service. You get one dedicated truck for your load, on the day you need it. Book two to three days ahead, especially before Diwali and Chhath, when trucks heading towards Bihar and Jharkhand get booked up quickly.

If you load from other NCR points too, see hiring a truck in Delhi or truck hire in Noida.

Questions shippers ask about Delhi to Bokaro

How far is Bokaro from Delhi by road?

About 1,200 km on the NH19 route through Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The exact figure moves a little depending on where in Delhi NCR you load and where in Bokaro you unload.

How many days will the truck take?

Plan on 2-3 days. The driver stops at night, and loading and unloading time is on top of that.

What does a 19FT truck cost for this route?

A 19FT Eicher from Delhi to Bokaro, about 1,200 km, is indicatively Rs.44,400 - Rs.49,200 for the trip, toll included (checked September 2026). Rates are not fixed; confirm the current rate at booking.

And a 32FT container?

A 32FT container (7-8 ton) from Delhi to Bokaro, about 1,200 km, is indicatively Rs.66,000 - Rs.69,600 for the trip, toll included (checked September 2026). Rates are not fixed; confirm the current rate at booking.

Can you deliver inside the steel plant area?

The truck can go wherever the plant allows a vehicle of that size, but the entry pass and paperwork have to come from your consignee. Please arrange it before the truck leaves Delhi, otherwise the truck may wait at the gate.

Do I need an e-way bill?

Yes, for goods valued above Rs.50,000, since the truck crosses state borders. The consignor or consignee generates it. We share the vehicle number at booking so it can be filled in.

Who loads and unloads the truck?

You arrange labour at both ends. We supply the truck and driver. Most Bokaro consignees have their own unloading staff, but confirm this before dispatch.

Can I track the truck?

Yes. GPS tracking runs from dispatch to delivery, and you get a digital Lorry Receipt at loading and a GST invoice after delivery.

What are the payment terms?

Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.

Is insurance included?

No. Transit insurance is arranged by the customer. For high-value electrical or machine spares, we recommend taking a policy before loading.

Can I send a small load and share the truck?

No. We book one full truck per consignment, so there is no part load. If your load is small, a Tata Ace or 14FT Eicher keeps the cost down.

Can I get a truck back from Bokaro to Delhi?

Yes, book it as a separate trip from Bokaro. Rates on the return side are quoted separately and are not fixed either.

FTL means the entire truck carries only your goods. It picks up from your location and goes directly to the destination, no stops to consolidate other shipments, no detours. This is the right choice when you have enough volume to fill, or mostly fill, a truck, or when transit time matters.

Yes. Every truck on our platform carries GPS. Once your shipment moves, you can see its exact location from the app, no need to call the driver every few hours. You can also share the tracking link with your buyer or warehouse team so they know when to expect the delivery and can plan unloading accordingly.

Yes. Select your dispatch date when placing the booking and we will arrange the truck for that day. Advance booking helps during peak seasons, October through December, when festival demand and year-end dispatches tighten truck availability.

Yes. If you need to collect goods from more than one location or deliver to multiple destinations in a single trip, mention the stops when placing your booking. Our team will plan the route and confirm the fare covering all points before dispatch.

You can cancel before vehicle and driver details are shared, no charge applies. Once we assign a truck and share the details, the booking amount is non-refundable because the driver has already committed time and fuel.

Our truck fare covers transportation only. Loading, unloading, and packing are arranged separately at your end. If you need help finding labour at a specific location, reach out to our team, we can usually connect you with someone in the area who handles it regularly.

Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading, Balance due before unloading begins. We accept NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments are accepted.

Yes. Toll charges are included in the quoted freight rate on all intercity routes. You will not receive a separate toll bill after delivery. The rate confirmed at booking covers the full point-to-point movement.

We transport commercial and industrial goods including machinery, raw materials, FMCG products, textiles, auto parts, building materials, electronics, and agricultural produce. We do not transport household belongings for relocation, hazardous materials requiring special permits, or any restricted goods under Indian transport regulations.

A GST-compliant invoice is generated and sent to your registered email once the consignment is delivered. The Lorry Receipt (LR) is shared at the time of dispatch. Proof of Delivery (POD) is sent digitally after unloading is complete. If your accounts team needs a specific format or a consolidated monthly statement for multiple shipments, write to cs@truckguru.co.in.

The first 2 hours after the truck arrives at your location are free. After that, waiting charges range from Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 per day depending on the vehicle type. Keep your goods and paperwork, including GST invoice, e-Way Bill, and packing list, ready before the truck arrives to avoid delays.

GST on goods transport applies under the Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) at 5%. This means the shipper is responsible for filing and paying the GST on the transport service, not TruckGuru. Our invoices are GST-compliant and include all the details your accounts team needs for filing.

The consignor or consignee must generate Part A and Part B of the e-Way Bill before goods move. This is mandatory under GST rules for consignments valued above Rs.50,000. TruckGuru does not generate the e-Way Bill on your behalf, but our team can guide you through the process if needed.

Report any damage at the time of delivery to our team at +91-7202045678 with photographs taken before unloading. We investigate each claim on a case-by-case basis. We strongly recommend that shippers arrange their own transit insurance for high-value consignments, as TruckGuru's liability is limited to the terms agreed at the time of booking.

No. TruckGuru provides full truckload (FTL) intercity goods transport only. We do not handle parcels, courier shipments, bike transport, car transport, household shifting, or within-city local deliveries. If you need these services, we recommend contacting a specialist provider in your city.

Moving Goods Is Simple with TruckGuru

Tips for Booking a Truck

Start with the weight and dimensions of your goods, not the truck size. A 2-ton textile shipment from Surat to Mumbai fits comfortably in an Eicher 14FT (3.5T capacity, Rs.31-35/km). Picking the wrong truck size is the most common reason shippers overpay on freight.

Get your rate confirmed before the truck is dispatched. On TruckGuru, the price you see at booking is the price you pay. The split is simple: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading, Balance due before unloading. If a platform or broker revises the rate at the loading dock, that is a red flag.

Check whether the transporter provides live GPS tracking and digital documentation including LR, invoice, and POD. Chasing a driver by phone for location updates wastes hours every trip. On busy corridors like Ahmedabad-Mumbai or Delhi-Jaipur, a single delayed update can throw off your warehouse unloading schedule.

Book 2-3 days ahead when possible. Same-day availability is common on most routes, but during October-December peak season, trucks on high-demand corridors fill up fast. Advance booking also gives you better vehicle options for goods that need closed-body or containerised transport.
