Tempo Service in Chennai
Vehicles: Tata Ace (750 kg) and Bada Dost / Chota Hathi (1.5 tonnes)
Service: FTL intercity only -- dedicated truck, no co-loading
Pickup: Sriperumbudur, Ambattur, Guindy, Oragadam, OMR, Perungudi
When businesses in Chennai search for tempo service, they are usually looking for one of two things: a small truck for a consignment that does not fill a 14ft or 20ft vehicle, or a Tata Ace-sized vehicle for pharma samples, commercial samples, or small FMCG batches moving intercity. TruckGuru handles both through FTL intercity bookings using the Tata Ace (750 kg) and Bada Dost, also known as Chota Hathi (1.5 tonnes).
Both vehicles operate on the same FTL principle as larger trucks -- your goods travel alone from your Chennai pickup point to destination. No co-loading, no shared space, no part-load arrangement. The tempo is booked for your consignment only, which means the pickup and delivery timeline is set by your booking, not by other shippers on the same route.
TruckGuru covers intercity tempo bookings from Chennai to Bangalore, Hyderabad, Coimbatore, and 110+ other cities. The rate is confirmed before dispatch -- the same figure appears on the invoice after delivery. Check your tempo service rate from Chennai: freight calculator. Call 72020 45678.
This is intercity FTL only. Local within-city tempo delivery, household shifting, and parcel services are not offered here.

What Moves on Tempo Bookings from Chennai
The Tata Ace and Bada Dost are most commonly booked for consignments where the goods volume does not justify a 14ft truck but where FTL is still preferred over part-load. Common cargo on Chennai tempo bookings:
- Pharmaceutical samples and small formulation batches from Guindy and Sriperumbudur pharma units to distributors in Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore
- Commercial samples and sales demonstration goods from Chennai businesses to client locations across South India
- IT accessories and small hardware batches from OMR and Perungudi companies to buyers in Bangalore and Hyderabad
- FMCG trial batches and new product launches from Chennai distribution centres to Tamil Nadu and Karnataka stockists
- Automotive spare parts and small component batches from Sriperumbudur and Oragadam suppliers to assembly units in other cities
Commercial and industrial goods only. Household goods and personal effects are not transported on these bookings.

When a Tempo Booking Makes More Sense Than a 14ft Truck
The decision between a Tata Ace or Bada Dost and a 14ft truck comes down to load weight and cost per unit. For loads under 750 kg, the Tata Ace is the right vehicle and the most direct rate. For loads between 750 kg and 1.5 tonnes, the Bada Dost gives the same rate as a Tata Ace but double the capacity.
Where businesses sometimes overpay is booking a 14ft truck for a 500 kg load because a 14ft was available and the Tata Ace was not confirmed in time. The rate difference is significant -- a Chennai-Bangalore Tata Ace runs Rs. 11,500-12,600, while a 14ft on the same route runs Rs. 13,900-15,200. For businesses running weekly small consignments on this corridor, that difference adds up.
Booking the correct vehicle size requires knowing the accurate weight of your consignment before confirming. Use the truck size guide to verify before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is TruckGuru?
TruckGuru LLP is a full truckload (FTL) intercity truck booking platform with offices in Vadodara and Bangalore, covering 110+ cities across India. We show you the freight cost before you book, match the right truck to your cargo, and handle the booking from pickup to delivery.
How do I book a truck?
Three ways: book online at truckguru.co.in, use the TruckGuru app, or call 72020 45678. Enter your pickup and drop city, select the truck type, and check the estimated fare. Once you confirm, pay the token amount and our team places the vehicle at your pickup location.
How can I check the freight cost for my route?
Use the freight calculator on our website -- enter the pickup city, drop city, and truck type. You will see an estimated fare instantly. No login needed, no obligation. The final rate is confirmed by our executive after verifying your exact locations, material weight, and goods type.
What truck types are available?
Tata Ace (1,250 kg), Bada Dost and Mahindra Pickup (up to 1.5 ton), Eicher 14ft (3.5 ton), 17ft (5 ton), 19ft (7 ton), 20ft Container (6.5 ton), and 32ft Container in SXL (7-8 ton), MXL (16 ton), and MXL (18 ton) variants. Not sure which fits your load? Call us and our team will recommend the right vehicle based on weight and volume.
What are the payment terms?
A token amount at booking confirmation, 90% of the fare at the time of loading, and the remaining balance at the destination before unloading. We accept NEFT, IMPS, UPI (GPay, PhonePe, Paytm), and all major debit and credit cards.
Is the online estimate the final fare?
No. The website shows an estimated cost based on standard distance. The final fare is confirmed by our executive after verifying your exact pickup and drop location, material weight, and goods type. On most routes the final rate stays close to the estimate, but it can vary for off-highway locations or routes requiring detours.
What are the waiting charges?
If the truck reaches your location and loading is delayed, waiting charges range from Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 per day depending on the vehicle type. If the vehicle is not loaded and returns empty, the customer must pay driver fuel charges plus the waiting charge.
What are the GST charges on freight?
GST on goods transport is payable under the Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) at 5%. The shipper is responsible for filing and paying the GST, not TruckGuru. Our invoices are GST-compliant and sent to your registered email after delivery.
Who generates the e-Way Bill?
The consignor or consignee must generate Part A and Part B of the e-Way Bill before the goods move. This is mandatory for consignments valued above Rs.50,000. TruckGuru does not generate the e-Way Bill on your behalf.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes. Call 72020 45678 to request cancellation. Once vehicle or driver details have been shared, the booking amount is non-refundable. If the truck has already been dispatched, no refund is issued and fuel charges apply. Approved cancellations are refunded (minus cancellation fee) within 7 working days.
Do you provide loading, unloading, or packing?
Our service covers transportation only. If you need labour for loading or unloading, we can help arrange it at extra cost, but we do not guarantee third-party labour services. The quoted freight rate does not include labour charges.
Do you handle parcels, courier, or car transport?
No. TruckGuru provides full truckload (FTL) intercity goods transport only. We do not handle parcels, courier, bike transport, car transport, household shifting, or within-city local deliveries.
Tips for Booking a Truck
Start with the weight and type of goods you need to move, not the truck size. A 2-ton consignment fits an Eicher 14FT (3.5T capacity), while anything above 7 tons usually needs a 32FT container. Picking the right vehicle upfront saves you from paying for space you do not use.
Always get a confirmed rate before the truck is dispatched. On TruckGuru, the price shown at booking is the price you pay. The payment split is 5% at booking, 90% at loading, and 5% before unloading. If any platform or broker tries to revise the rate at the loading dock, treat that as a red flag.
Check that the transporter provides live GPS tracking and digital documentation including LR, invoice, and POD. Calling the driver every few hours for location updates wastes time, especially on high-volume corridors where even a small delay can throw off your warehouse unloading schedule.
Book 2 to 3 days ahead when possible. Same-day availability is common on most routes, but during October to December peak season, trucks on busy corridors fill up fast. Advance booking also gives you better vehicle options for goods that need closed-body or containerised transport.
