Most Delhi tempo loads start in a market lane

TruckGuru's tempo service in Delhi books a Tata Ace or Dost (up to 1,100 kg) or a Bada Dost (up to 1.5 ton) with driver, for intercity loads going more than 100 km. Rates are not fixed; each trip is quoted at booking, toll included. Jaipur, Agra, Chandigarh and Ludhiana usually take 1 day; Lucknow takes 1 - 2 days.

In Delhi, a small load rarely starts at a factory gate. It starts in Sadar Bazar with forty cartons of toys and plastic goods for a retailer in Moradabad, or in Bhagirath Palace with electrical fittings for a dealer in Dehradun, or at Kashmere Gate with auto spares for a workshop in Ludhiana. The tempo cannot enter those lanes. The goods come out on handcarts and cycle rickshaws to a spot where a vehicle can stand, and that spot is the address we need. Give us the loading point, not the shop address, and the pickup goes much faster.

The rest of our Delhi loads come from the industrial areas: Okhla and Naraina for garments, printing and packaging; Mayapuri and Kirti Nagar for machine parts, hardware and panels; Wazirpur for steel utensils and sheet cut pieces; and Bawana and Narela for plastics, footwear and packaged food.

Gurugram, Noida and Faridabad are not intercity for us

This catches a lot of Delhi shippers. We only book trips of more than 100 km, and nothing inside the NCR clears that bar. Gurugram, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Sonipat and even Meerut are all under 100 km from central Delhi, so we do not take those runs, and we do not do deliveries within Delhi either.

Where we do fit is the next ring out: the market towns of western UP, the Punjab and Haryana belt, Rajasthan, and the hill towns of Uttarakhand.

Six lanes Delhi tempos run most

Transit figures are upper limits, not guarantees. Two local habits change the picture. Goods vehicles face entry restrictions on many Delhi roads during the day, so a lot of market pickups load in the evening and leave overnight, which suits Jaipur and Chandigarh well because the tempo reaches the receiver as the shop opens. And Sadar Bazar runs flat out from late August until Diwali. In October a tempo for Agra or Moradabad that you would normally get the same day can take two days to line up. Book early in that season.

• Dry fruits, spices and kirana stock from Khari Baoli and Naya Bazar
• Switches, wires, fans and lighting from Bhagirath Palace and Lajpat Rai Market
• Auto and tractor spares from Kashmere Gate for dealers in Punjab and Haryana
• Garment lots from Okhla and Gandhi Nagar for Jaipur and Ludhiana stores
• Steel utensils and small fabricated parts from Wazirpur

Most of these weigh under a tonne. Wazirpur steel is the exception: a few bundles of sheet can pass 1.1 ton quickly, and that is when a 14FT Eicher (3.5 ton) is the right booking. Tempo rates from Delhi

Truck freight rates are not fixed. What a load costs depends on the route, vehicle type, load capacity needed, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are running that lane that week. Out of Delhi, tempos for the Punjab lanes are easier to find than tempos for the hills, and the October market rush pushes every lane up for a few weeks.

Booking, papers and tracking

You book on the website or the TruckGuru app with pickup point, drop, weight and date. We call back within 30 minutes during working hours (Mon-Sat 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM, Sun 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM). The tempo carries only your goods. A digital Lorry Receipt is issued at loading, the vehicle is GPS tracked until delivery, and the GST invoice follows after delivery.

Every lane in the table crosses a state border, so an e-way bill is needed for goods above Rs.50,000; the consignor or consignee generates it. Loading and unloading labour and transit insurance are yours to arrange.

Questions we get from Delhi traders

Can the tempo come inside Chandni Chowk to pick up?

No, and no four-wheeler can in most of those lanes. Bring the goods by handcart to a loading point on the main road and share that point with us. The driver will wait there.

Can I book a tempo from Okhla to Noida or Gurugram?

No. That is under 100 km, and we only book intercity trips of more than 100 km. We don't do deliveries within Delhi or the NCR.

How much weight fits in one tempo?

A Tata Ace or Dost carries up to 1,100 kg, and a Bada Dost up to 1.5 ton. For more than that, book a 14FT Eicher, which takes 3.5 ton.

Can you load tonight and deliver in Jaipur tomorrow morning?

Usually yes. Jaipur is about 280 km, which is a 1-day lane, and night loading from Delhi is common. Book during working hours so we can confirm the vehicle on the callback.

Is it the same rate every time for Delhi to Agra?

No. Rates are not fixed. Each trip is quoted at booking with toll included, and the figure changes with the date and how many vehicles are free that week.

Do I need an e-way bill for Delhi to Ludhiana?

Yes, for goods worth more than Rs.50,000, since the trip crosses Haryana into Punjab. The consignor or consignee generates it before the tempo leaves.

Is the tempo covered?

You can ask for a closed-body tempo on the callback. Open tempos come with a tarpaulin, which is fine for hardware and steel but not ideal for cartons in the July rains.

Who loads the cartons?

You arrange loading and unloading labour at both ends. The driver helps rope and cover the load.

What are the payment terms?

Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.

Can I book a tempo to take my home goods to another city?

Our trucks mostly carry business loads. For a one-off household move to another city, we can supply the truck and driver. Packing, loading and unloading are arranged by you.

Can I see where the tempo is on the way?

Yes. Every vehicle is GPS tracked from dispatch to delivery, and you can check the location on the app or ask our team on call.
