Anyone who runs dispatch for a supplier to the Sriperumbudur plants knows the other half of the job. Parts arrive at the plant in plastic crates, steel trolleys and foldable bins, and those crates belong to the supplier in Hosur, Bangalore or Coimbatore. Once a few hundred of them pile up at the plant's return dock, somebody has to send them home. A 32FT container is far too big for that. A tempo is not.
TruckGuru's tempo service in Sriperumbudur books a Tata Ace or Bada Dost class vehicle with driver for exactly these intercity trips, over 100 km: returnable packaging going back to a supplier, a top-up lot of parts coming in, or spares going out to a service dealer in another town. The vehicle carries only your consignment and goes straight to the address you give.
We do not run deliveries inside Chennai or between units in the belt. Sriperumbudur to Guindy, or to a plant 20 km down the highway, is not a trip we book.
How much empty packaging fits
Weight is rarely the problem with empties. Volume is. An Ace / Dost / Pickup is rated at 750 kg - 1,100 kg, but a load of nested plastic bins will fill the deck long before it gets near that figure. Collapsible crates stack well; rigid trolleys do not, and a dozen of them can take the whole floor.
Our rule of thumb: count the pallets or the stacks, not the kilos. If the returns need more than the floor of one tempo, a 14FT Eicher (3.5 ton) with a longer deck is usually the better call, and a 19FT Eicher (7 ton) suits a month's worth of returns. For live parts rather than empties, the weight does matter. Castings and fasteners hit 1,100 kg quickly in a small volume, so give us the real weight from the packing list.
Lanes from the Sriperumbudur side

The Krishnagiri stretch towards Hosur and Bangalore carries heavy container traffic in the evenings. A tempo that leaves Sriperumbudur by 10 AM usually reaches a Hosur supplier before its receiving dock closes for the day.
Before you book: a short checklist
Returns trips go wrong in small ways. The plant releases the empties late, the supplier's store is closed when the tempo arrives, or the gate pass lists the wrong vehicle number. Three things help:
- Get the plant's gate pass raised in the name of the vehicle number we send on confirmation, not a placeholder.
- Ask the receiving store what time they stop taking inward material.
- Have a delivery challan ready. Empty returnable packaging still moves on a document, even when no e-way bill applies.
For goods worth more than 50,000 rupees, the consignor or consignee generates the e-way bill. Loading and unloading labour is arranged by you at both ends, as is transit insurance if you want cover.
After the booking
Enter pickup, drop and approximate weight on the website or the TruckGuru app. Our team calls back within 30 minutes during working hours (Mon-Sat 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM, Sun 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM) to confirm the vehicle and slot. You get a digital Lorry Receipt at loading, GPS tracking from dispatch to delivery, and a GST invoice once the goods are delivered.
What a Sriperumbudur tempo trip costs
Truck freight rates are not fixed. What a load costs depends on the route, vehicle type, load capacity needed, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are running that lane that week. Vehicles heading west to Bangalore are easier to find than ones going south towards Madurai, and that difference shows up in the quote.

We have 300 empty bins at the plant. Tempo or bigger?
Depends on the bin size and whether they nest. Send us the bin dimensions and a photo of the stack and we will tell you on the callback. Rigid bins in that number usually need a 14FT Eicher.
Can the tempo pick up empties from two plants in the belt?
We book one pickup and one drop per vehicle. If both plants release on the same day, it is simpler to consolidate the bins at one gate first.
Is Sriperumbudur to Hosur same-day?
Yes, for a morning pickup. It is about 250 km and a tempo covers it in 6-7 hours, traffic near Krishnagiri permitting.
Do you move parts between two units in Sriperumbudur?
No. We only book intercity trips of over 100 km. Short runs inside the belt or into Chennai are not something we take.
Does the driver load the bins?
No. Loading and unloading labour is arranged by the customer. The driver will tie down and cover the load.
Is an e-way bill needed for empty crates?
Check with your accounts team, as it depends on how the movement is documented. For goods above 50,000 rupees in value the consignor or consignee generates the e-way bill. Keep a delivery challan with the vehicle either way.
Open or closed tempo for parts?
Closed body for anything that must stay dry or clean, which covers most finished parts. Open with tarpaulin is fine for empties and rugged metal parts.
Can I track it to the supplier's gate?
Yes. The vehicle is GPS tracked from dispatch to delivery, on the app or through our team.
What are the payment terms?
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
An employee is moving to Bangalore. Can your tempo take their things?
Our trucks mostly carry business loads. For a one-off household move to another city, we can supply the truck and driver. Packing, loading and unloading are arranged by you.
How early should I book for a Monday pickup?
Book by Saturday afternoon. Sunday callbacks run only until 2:30 PM, so a Sunday evening booking is confirmed on Monday morning.
