Chemical and engineering units around the city ship to Kerala every week, and most of those loads end up in and around Kochi. The run to Kochi is about 1,750 km and usually takes 3 - 4 days in a full truck. Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Thrissur drops are booked the same way, with the fare worked out for the actual distance.

What Vadodara sends to Kerala
Chemicals lead. Units in Nandesari, Makarpura GIDC and along the Vadodara-Halol belt send industrial chemicals, solvents and polymers to Kerala's rubber, coir and paint processors. These usually move in drums or bags, and a 20ft truck or container is the normal choice.
Engineering and electrical equipment is the second group. Transformer parts, switchgear, pumps and fabricated items from Makarpura, Por and Savli go to Kerala's power utilities, contractors and dealers.
Pharma is the third. Formulation units around Vadodara supply Kerala's distributors, and these loads need a closed body.
Kerala at the receiving end
Kerala imports most of its industrial inputs and consumer goods by road. Kochi is the distribution centre: warehouses in Kalamassery, Edayar and Aluva receive the bulk, and local vans take it on to the rest of the state. The Kochi Refinery and the Edayar chemical cluster are direct buyers of Gujarat chemicals.
Route and timing
Trucks leave Vadodara on NH-48 through Surat and Mumbai's outskirts, then continue south through Pune, Kolhapur and Belagavi. From there, most go through Bangalore and Coimbatore and enter Kerala at Walayar. The coastal NH-66 via Goa and Mangalore is shorter on the map but slower in practice, especially in the monsoon.
A realistic plan: load on day one, cross Maharashtra on day two, reach Bangalore on day three, and deliver in Kochi on day four. Add a day from June to August.
Hazardous chemicals
Some chemicals are classed as hazardous and need a truck with the right permits and markings, plus an MSDS with the driver. Tell us the chemical name and UN number at booking. If the product is not hazardous, a normal closed or open truck is fine, but still keep the MSDS in the document folder, as Kerala border checks sometimes ask for it.
Choosing the truck
Chemical drums are heavy for their size. Eighty 250 kg drums make 20 ton, which is more than any single truck we book can carry, so large dispatches go in two containers. For 25 to 30 drums, a 20ft truck is right. Bagged polymer granules are lighter and bulkier, and they usually fill a 32ft body before they hit the weight limit.
Tell us the pack type, count and total weight when you book. We match the truck to whichever limit you reach first.
When to book
Onam, in August or September, brings a surge of goods into Kerala, and trucks heading south from Gujarat get booked early in the two weeks before it. Financial year-end in March is the other busy spell. In both periods, book 3 to 4 days ahead.

Payment
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
