Small steel loads from Kalamboli

The Kalamboli steel market sells angles, channels, sheets, pipes and fasteners. Most of it leaves in large trucks, but fabricators in Pune and Satara often buy small lots: a few pipes, a bundle of flats, a box of bolts. A Tata Ace takes these, as long as the total stays within 1,100 kg and nothing is longer than the deck.

Warehouses and CFS operators near Uran book the mini truck for small cargo pulled from import consignments: samples, spare parts and small cartons that a customer inland needs before the rest of the container is cleared. These go to Pune or Nashik, where same-day delivery is possible if the truck loads early; otherwise next day.

Loading at the steel market

Kalamboli's steel yard is a maze of open plots, cranes and parked trailers. A mini truck can wait in a corner while a trader's crew loads by hand, but it still needs the trader to be ready. Ask your supplier to cut, bundle and weigh the material before the vehicle arrives. Tie long pieces at two or three points and lay them on wooden runners so they do not slide into the cabin under braking.

Keep the tax invoice and e-way bill with the driver. Steel loads are often checked on the expressway and at district borders, and a missing document stops the vehicle.

The Goa highway

Panvel to Goa on NH-66 is long and slow in places, with village stretches and ghats. A mini truck usually does the run, about 560 km, within 1 - 2 days. From June to September, heavy Konkan rain slows it further. We suggest a closed body for anything that must stay dry.

Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
