Book Tata AceA sample lot for customer approval, due in Hosur by Thursday
The Oragadam auto cluster runs on approvals. Before a new part goes into volume supply, a trial lot goes to the customer's quality lab, and a fixture or a die often travels to a toolroom in Hosur, Bangalore or Coimbatore for correction and comes back a week later. These loads are small, often under a tonne, but they carry a date that somebody has promised a customer.
That is where a tempo fits. TruckGuru's tempo service in Oragadam books a Tata Ace or Bada Dost class vehicle with driver for trips over 100 km, loading at your gate in the SIPCOT area or the villages around it and driving straight to the receiver. No other consignment shares the vehicle, so a sample lot is not sitting in a transhipment godown overnight.
Deliveries within Chennai or between units in the cluster are not something we book.
Dies and fixtures are heavier than they look
This is the most common sizing mistake we see from Oragadam. A press tool the size of a suitcase can weigh 600-800 kg. Two of them and the Ace / Dost / Pickup, rated 750 kg - 1,100 kg, is already full on paper even though the deck looks empty.
So we ask for the weight off the toolroom record, not an estimate. For anything above about 1.1 ton we suggest a 14FT Eicher (3.5 ton). A 14FT also gives more floor to spread heavy items across the axle, which the driver will thank you for on the Krishnagiri ghat section. For very heavy dies, a 19FT Eicher (7 ton) is worth the difference.
Sample lots of plastic trims, harnesses or lamps are the opposite case: light, bulky and easy to scratch. Ask for a closed body and pack each part the way your customer's quality team expects to receive it. More on body types on the truck type page.

A tempo usually reaches Hosur or Bangalore within 1 day. Pune is a 2 - 3 day run with night halts. For a Pune approval deadline, book so the tempo loads at least three days before the date, not two.
Paperwork for a trial lot
Sample lots and tools going for repair often move on a delivery challan rather than a sale invoice. Your accounts team decides which document applies. If the value is above 50,000 rupees, the consignor or consignee generates the e-way bill before the vehicle leaves; we need the number before dispatch.
Loading and unloading labour is on your side at both ends, and so is transit insurance. For dies, a forklift or a chain block at the gate saves an hour and a damaged tailboard.
From booking to handover
You book on the website or the app with pickup, drop, weight and date. We call back within 30 minutes during working hours (Mon-Sat 9:30 AM - 6:30 PM, Sun 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM). At loading you get a digital Lorry Receipt. The tempo is GPS tracked until delivery, and the GST invoice follows.
Tempo rates out of the cluster
Truck freight rates are not fixed. What a load costs depends on the route, vehicle type, load capacity needed, cargo, pickup date and how many trucks are running that lane that week. Oragadam to Hosur and Bangalore has plenty of vehicles on most days; Pune is quoted case by case because fewer small vehicles take a 2 - 3 day run.

Questions from Oragadam quality and dispatch teams
Can a tempo carry two press tools to Hosur?
Only if the combined weight stays within 1,100 kg. Two tools of 600 kg each go over, so we would put them on a 14FT Eicher instead.
My sample lot must reach Bangalore by 10 AM. When should it load?
Load by 11 PM the night before; the run is usually within 1 day, so this leaves a margin. Tell the receiver to expect the vehicle early and keep someone at the gate.
Will the parts move to another vehicle on the way?
No. The tempo that loads at your gate delivers at the destination. There is no transhipment and no part load.
Do you take small trips inside the Oragadam area?
No. Every booking is intercity, more than 100 km.
Is the tempo covered?
Ask for a closed body when you book. Open tempos come with a tarpaulin, which is fine for tools but not for painted or plated parts.
Who loads the die?
You do. Loading and unloading labour and any lifting equipment are arranged by the customer.
Can we track it for the customer's quality team?
Yes. The tempo is GPS tracked from dispatch to delivery and you can share the live location.
What documents should travel with a tool going for repair?
Usually a delivery challan, and an e-way bill if the value is above 50,000 rupees. Your accounts team decides the exact document.
What are the payment terms?
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
Can I use the same booking for a staff member's personal goods?
Our trucks mostly carry business loads. For a one-off household move to another city, we can supply the truck and driver. Packing, loading and unloading are arranged by you.
Can the tempo wait at the toolroom and bring the die back?
We book each direction as its own trip. If the correction takes a day or more, book the return separately once the toolroom confirms the date.
