From Vadodara the driver comes down NH48 towards Surat and joins NH53, the old Hazira-Kolkata highway. It crosses into Maharashtra near Navapur, runs through Dhule, Jalgaon, Akola and Amravati to Nagpur, and then on to Raipur. The last section heads east from Raipur across central Chhattisgarh to Raigarh. NH53 is a good four-lane road for most of its length, which is why this lane holds to 2-3 days even at this distance.
