Chennai is about 2,400 km from Dehradun, and a truck on this route usually takes 4 - 5 days on the road. It runs down NH-44 to Hyderabad, then south-east through Kurnool and Nellore or through Vijayawada, depending on traffic and the delivery point. We plan 4 - 5 days, one driver, full rest stops.
TruckGuru books full truckload only. Your load stays on one truck from Dehradun to Chennai, without being moved to another vehicle on the way.
Two reasons come up again and again. Pharma companies in Selaqui with a Chennai C&F agent supply Tamil Nadu from there, and some send export consignments to Chennai port rather than JNPT because the buyer is in South East Asia or the Gulf. Basmati rice is the second reason. Chennai wholesalers in Kothwal Chavadi and Koyambedu buy north Indian basmati, and Dehradun mills supply part of it.
FMCG from the Haridwar road units and printed packaging make up the rest.
On the return, Chennai sends auto parts, tyres, leather goods and electrical items north, which keeps truck supply steady in both directions.
| Truck | Load capacity | Trip fare (toll included) |
| 14ft Eicher | 3.5 ton | Rs.77,500 - Rs.87,100 |
| 20ft truck | 6.5 ton | Rs.1,02,400 - Rs.1,12,000 |
| 32ft container | 7-8 ton | Rs.1,39,000 - Rs.1,46,200 |
| 32ft container | 16 ton | Rs.1,95,200 - Rs.2,12,000 |
| 32ft container | 18 ton | Rs.2,10,500 - Rs.2,24,900 |
These fares include toll. The exact figure depends on your pickup point, the delivery area in Chennai and the loading date. The freight calculator gives the number before you pay. For export cartons going to Chennai port, see the container truck page for closed body options.
Dehradun pickups: Selaqui, Langha Road, Patel Nagar, Mohabbewala, Doiwala and Vikasnagar. See truck hire in Dehradun.
Chennai deliveries: Ambattur, Guindy, Sriperumbudur, Oragadam, Red Hills, Madhavaram, Koyambedu market area, Chennai port and the CFSs around Ennore. See truck hire in Chennai and truck hire in Ambattur for return loads.
Summer heat in Madhya Pradesh and the monsoon in Telangana are the two seasonal factors on the northern half. In the south, the north-east monsoon hits Chennai from October to December. Heavy rain there can flood approach roads to Red Hills and Madhavaram, and unloading gets pushed by a day.
Chennai port gates run on slots and paperwork. If your cargo is for export, share the shipping bill details at booking so the driver is not turned away at the gate.
Book the truck 2 to 3 days in advance. Long-distance trucks from Dehradun are fewer than from Delhi, and a same-day request can take longer to fill.
Distance changes how you should pick a truck. On this route, a 14ft Eicher with 3.5 ton load capacity costs Rs.77,500 to Rs.87,100, which works out to roughly Rs.22,000 to Rs.25,000 per ton. A 32ft container with 16 ton load capacity costs Rs.1,95,200 to Rs.2,12,000, or about Rs.12,000 to Rs.13,000 per ton when fully loaded.
That gap is why shippers on this route try to consolidate. If you have 3 tons this week and 3 tons next week, sending 6 tons together in a 20ft truck often costs less than two Eicher trips.
If you cannot wait, the smaller truck is still the right choice. Just check the numbers before you decide.
The e-way bill for 2,400 km is valid for 12 days, which covers this trip.
Consolidation also helps at the Chennai end. One truck means one unloading slot, one gate entry and one set of papers, instead of two of each spread over two weeks.
Enter pickup, drop and truck type on the booking page. You see the trip fare, confirm, and we assign a verified truck.
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading once the truck reaches the pickup location, and the remaining Balance at delivery before unloading begins. Accepted: NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments accepted.
Usually 4 - 5 days for roughly 2,400 km, with one driver and proper rest stops.

“We ship auto components from our Pune plant to distributors in eight states. Earlier every dispatch meant three or four calls to brokers just to get a rate. Now we check the fare online, confirm the truck, and track it on GPS till delivery. Our team saves close to two hours on every booking.”
“Our textile unit in Surat moves fifteen to twenty truckloads a month to retailers across South India. TruckGuru gave us one dashboard to book, one number to call, and the GST invoice reaches us the same day. Rates are competitive with no surprise charges at delivery, and that consistency matters when you ship every week.”
“We run a packaging materials unit in Ahmedabad and dispatch to factories across Maharashtra and Rajasthan. What sold us on TruckGuru was the rate transparency. The price we saw online was the price we paid, with no broker markup and nothing added at the weighbridge. Fourteen months in and we have not had a single billing dispute.”
“I handle procurement for a pharma distributor in Hyderabad and our cargo needs careful handling. TruckGuru gives us a coordinator who checks that every truck is clean and covered before loading. The digital LR and POD reach my inbox before the driver leaves the drop point, which saves us a lot during audits.”

FTL means the entire truck carries only your goods. It picks up from your location and goes directly to the destination, no stops to consolidate other shipments, no detours. This is the right choice when you have enough volume to fill, or mostly fill, a truck, or when transit time matters.
Yes. Every truck on our platform carries GPS. Once your shipment moves, you can see its exact location from the app, no need to call the driver every few hours. You can also share the tracking link with your buyer or warehouse team so they know when to expect the delivery and can plan unloading accordingly.
Yes. Select your dispatch date when placing the booking and we will arrange the truck for that day. Advance booking helps during peak seasons, October through December, when festival demand and year-end dispatches tighten truck availability.
Yes. If you need to collect goods from more than one location or deliver to multiple destinations in a single trip, mention the stops when placing your booking. Our team will plan the route and confirm the fare covering all points before dispatch.
You can cancel before vehicle and driver details are shared, no charge applies. Once we assign a truck and share the details, the booking amount is non-refundable because the driver has already committed time and fuel.
Our truck fare covers transportation only. Loading, unloading, and packing are arranged separately at your end. If you need help finding labour at a specific location, reach out to our team, we can usually connect you with someone in the area who handles it regularly.
Payment is split into three parts: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading, Balance due before unloading begins. We accept NEFT, IMPS, UPI (PhonePe, GPay), and major debit and credit cards. No cash payments are accepted.
Yes. Toll charges are included in the quoted freight rate on all intercity routes. You will not receive a separate toll bill after delivery. The rate confirmed at booking covers the full point-to-point movement.
We transport commercial and industrial goods including machinery, raw materials, FMCG products, textiles, auto parts, building materials, electronics, and agricultural produce. We do not transport household belongings for relocation, hazardous materials requiring special permits, or any restricted goods under Indian transport regulations.
A GST-compliant invoice is generated and sent to your registered email once the consignment is delivered. The Lorry Receipt (LR) is shared at the time of dispatch. Proof of Delivery (POD) is sent digitally after unloading is complete. If your accounts team needs a specific format or a consolidated monthly statement for multiple shipments, write to cs@truckguru.co.in.
The first 2 hours after the truck arrives at your location are free. After that, waiting charges range from Rs.1,000 to Rs.5,000 per day depending on the vehicle type. Keep your goods and paperwork, including GST invoice, e-Way Bill, and packing list, ready before the truck arrives to avoid delays.
GST on goods transport applies under the Reverse Charge Mechanism (RCM) at 5%. This means the shipper is responsible for filing and paying the GST on the transport service, not TruckGuru. Our invoices are GST-compliant and include all the details your accounts team needs for filing.
The consignor or consignee must generate Part A and Part B of the e-Way Bill before goods move. This is mandatory under GST rules for consignments valued above Rs.50,000. TruckGuru does not generate the e-Way Bill on your behalf, but our team can guide you through the process if needed.
Report any damage at the time of delivery to our team at +91-7202045678 with photographs taken before unloading. We investigate each claim on a case-by-case basis. We strongly recommend that shippers arrange their own transit insurance for high-value consignments, as TruckGuru's liability is limited to the terms agreed at the time of booking.
No. TruckGuru provides full truckload (FTL) intercity goods transport only. We do not handle parcels, courier shipments, bike transport, car transport, household shifting, or within-city local deliveries. If you need these services, we recommend contacting a specialist provider in your city.
Call +91-7202045678 or email cs@truckguru.co.in. Our customer support team is available Monday to Saturday, 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and Sunday 9:30 AM to 2:30 PM. For booking queries, you can also use the website or the TruckGuru app on the Play Store. TruckGuru does not share your contact details with any outside agencies.
Start with the weight and dimensions of your goods, not the truck size. A 2-ton textile shipment from Surat to Mumbai fits comfortably in an Eicher 14FT (3.5T capacity, Rs.31-35/km). Picking the wrong truck size is the most common reason shippers overpay on freight.
Get your rate confirmed before the truck is dispatched. On TruckGuru, the price you see at booking is the price you pay. The split is simple: Booking Amount at booking confirmation, 90% at loading, Balance due before unloading. If a platform or broker revises the rate at the loading dock, that is a red flag.
Check whether the transporter provides live GPS tracking and digital documentation including LR, invoice, and POD. Chasing a driver by phone for location updates wastes hours every trip. On busy corridors like Ahmedabad-Mumbai or Delhi-Jaipur, a single delayed update can throw off your warehouse unloading schedule.
Book 2-3 days ahead when possible. Same-day availability is common on most routes, but during October-December peak season, trucks on high-demand corridors fill up fast. Advance booking also gives you better vehicle options for goods that need closed-body or containerised transport.
Enter your pickup city, drop city, and select the truck type on truckguru.co.in or the TruckGuru app. You will see the freight rate before confirming. Our team arranges the truck and shares driver details once the booking is confirmed.

Yes. Toll charges are included in the quoted fare on all intercity routes. No separate toll bill is raised after delivery.
